“European colleges tend not to overstaff with excess employees, and if you can’t handle the requirements...they tend to dump you real quick.”
Obviously the same with Russian/Chinese colleges, and one of the reasons that raw GNP comparisons between our countries (as some geniuses here keep using) are of little value, as raw GNP considers our useless colleges as ‘contributing’ to our GNP, whereas in just about every other country, most of their college-aged people (except for the smart ones) actually learn useful skills and quickly enter the workforce.
No, it’s not free. It’s not expensive, though. $6.99 a month.
May Big Academia collapse and go the way of the dodo bird.
AI is going to be democrat propaganda.
“No, it’s not free. It’s not expensive, though. $6.99 a month.”
Thanks, just saw that. I’m thinking about it!
“Was it wrong to get one?”
Maybe because it was wrong for the government to GIVE one for dubious degrees in suspect studies with no foresight as to how it might be paid back.
Sort of like sueing the for-profit colleges, maybe all these debt ridden students should sue the federal government for massive loan fraud, as the feds were the only way to get a loan to go to a university which didn’t teach you well enough or prepare you to repay that loan for severely overpriced schooling.
I work in a community college and have watched the decline over the last thirty years. The majority of the students now want a technical degree in healthcare, HVAC, CDL, Welding, Plumbing etc.. They want hands on training, they don’t want to be bothered paying for history or typical gen-ed classes, and they want to be in and out and working within a eighteen months or less.
The old guard gen-ed professors are still bucking the trends and demanding all take their classes regardless declaring they are educators not there to train people for jobs or careers and they are starting to lose their power and it’s accelerating.
That being said the online classes started roughly a dozen years ago and with covid accelerated and they are proving to be worthless. Lots of students getting A’s and passing yet can’t perform in the real world. Online classes work, but for certain areas and certain, go getter students. If you are taking a six or eight week online class you will find it is nothing more than busy work with little to no instruction. You are nothing more than an enrollment number and $ to administration.
Community colleges will survive because of the technical side of education and training however, the typical public/private four years college/universities are going to face hard times because the students realize that four year degree is not worth anything and cost a lot of money to obtain.
“...foresight as to how it might be paid back.”
I suspect there were a large amount of students who didn’t know how they were going to pay it back either (Or didn’t care to). Kids have learned how to misuse the system better than use it properly. They know every loophole.
“...massive loan fraud, as the feds were the only way to get a loan...”
About the same thing the liberals led by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank did with minorities and home loans in the 1990’s during the Clinton administration. And that was a disaster the citizens paid for also.
