A supply ship probably would run rather than go up against a warship.

Some of those supply ship were arm to the teeth. Also I am sure they hope to capture vital intel.

Don’t know if this scuttlebutt is true, but the Navy knew
the “Inigma” machine was on board all U boats

When one was captured it allowed the Allies to break the Germans’ code.

I think the one at Bletchley Park may have been captured y the Poles and smuggled to Britian.
