Such as? I’d love to hear about where to get fresh fish affordably. Spending $10 a day on a fish for dinner is not in the budget of this old woman.
Shouldn’t pizza, pasta, Italian sausages and gelati be part of the Mediterranean diet? After all, they originated in the Mediterranean basin.
I have arthritis and IBS. When I was in Israel for 2 weeks...I had no pain or issues. Remarkable, really, how bad our food is here.
A lot of these problems are caused by prepared foods with only God knows what in.
A local doctor in his 60’s and weighs the same as he did in college while lettering in 3 sports, showed me how to shop and what to avoid in a grocery store.
Only buy from the outer stocking shelves and avoid packaged stuff in the middle shelves of the store. Shop in good stores with good produce and fresh meat/seafood. If the list of items in the food exceed 2-3 syllables on any additive, don’t buy it!
For fish, try ethnic supermarkets. Asian ones are good, and so are Hispanic ones.
Whole grains are available at all sorts of grungy hippy-dippy co-ops. But don’t go to fancy ‘health-food’ stores, you’ll pay a lot more.
(But you have to make the bread from scratch :-)
Thanks for posting this reality about the Med/Mind way to eat and stay alive.
