The title alone gives you plenty of warning about the likely content.
If you would rather not experience threads like this (which is of course your right), your best option is:
— Don’t click on them
— If you accidentally click on them, don’t read them
— If you accidentally read them, don’t comment on them, since that only prolongs your agony.
Just sayin’, it ain’t hard to avoid unwanted threads by simply ignoring them. I do it all the time, with probably 2/3 of the threads here.
Not as rare as you think. The same thing happened to a roommate of mine when I went to college in the early-mid seventies in New Orleans.
Another friend and I was at a watering hole in Seattle in the late ‘80’s when he latched on to this super hot red head with an Adam’s apple and wrists as big as mine. I tried to warn him “she” didn’t pass my smell test leave it alone. Of course his little head overrode good sense….
Both incidents resulted in the deceiver not liking life for a considerable amount of time afterwards, they were lucky it wasn’t worse like you said.
Thank God, I got married at birth, actually 22, and could avoid these kind of problems. Today, I don’t know what I’d expect from the dating scene…scary thought with all the insane people that walk amongst us sharing our oxygen.

What I'm suggesting is that this forum is JimRob's, not yours or mine. He has posted rules regarding unacceptable content, and the Admin Mods are not shy about pulling threads that are deemed unacceptable.
What you or I find objectionable is our business. What is deemed "appropriate" for FR is the business of JimRob and the Mods.

I’m not suggesting that anyone is forcing me to read that tripe. It’s simply unnecessary in what I consider to be the general purpose of Free Republic. Yes we need to know what’s going on. However, how many disgusting pictures of mentally ill people should it be necessary to post to make sure we know about it? Especially when it appears that about 30% of the population is now mentally ill.
So when I or others post things that, while not outright obscene, do turn the stomach -- rude, gross, filthy, disgusting, blasphemous, whatever -- you can be pretty sure the Mods will take care of removing them in short order. Over time, we can learn what is, and is not, acceptable, based on what does or does not get deleted.
I don't presume that my personal standards should control FreeRepublic. It's JimRob's living room, in which we are all guests, and are expected to abide by his rules. I leave it to the Mods to enforce those rules.
