When I flew (no need to anymore), I had earplugs on me. No problemo

Years ago, I flew my sister and her 3 month old daughter from Florida to NJ for a visit. I told her to have the baby checked by her pediatrician, especially her ears, before flying. The pediatrician cleared her to fly. The baby cried all the way. A day or 2 after they arrived, I noticed my niece rubbing her ear so I took her to my pediatrician. Yup, she had an ear infection.

Airlines should tell parents to have their kids checked before flying. No, it didn't help my niece but I think she had a lousy, careless doctor.

Just a guess, but with all these videos of blacks exposing themselves as violent racist, this eventually will end very badly for them.

OMG. Did that arsehole say, “If that were a black baby, this wouldn’t be happening?”

It wasn’t her, but the laugh was very similar. So annoying. My ears are usually pretty plugged when I fly do to sinus issues, and I typically don’t hear very well during a flight, but that day, ugh, my sinuses weren’t plugged. I couldn’t wait to deplane.

Exactly. I always bring earplugs because I use my executive functioning skills.

Children’s ears hurt on a pressurized flight. They don’t understand, so they cry. I hate it, but I understand they are more likely to be in pain than just being little sh1theads. When I was flying, many if not most parents made an effort to quiet the wailing.

Babies are not good passengers and as such they shouldnt be allowed to fly.

if your child cant behave, they dont belong on a flight.

How do you think the captain was feeling hearing that kid for 45 minutes? and everyone else on the plane?

the parents are dumb and the guy is also dumb.

in the end, the airlines are the ones to blame for letting passenger standards fall below greyhound bus standards.

I'll admit that I'm bothered by babies crying but it's because I'm a Mom and my instinct is to figure out what the cause of the crying may be. In the case of temper tantrums, I have no patience.

Sometimes crying babies can trigger other babies, of any age.

I saw that yesterday. The guy was out of line, but still I can totally sympathize with how listening to a crying baby for 45 minutes, when the parents aren’t doing anything to soothe them, could make one lose their composure. Crying babies are designed to be insufferable, so that you pay attention to them. The parents might be numb to it after a while, but the rest of us are not.

How do you know the parents did nothing to try to sooth their baby? I missed that in the article. Do you think the parents like to hear their baby scream, too?

My son was colicky for a few months as an infant and would just scream for a few hours every evening. I did everything I could think of and nothing worked. I just had to endure it.

Sometimes crying babies cry and it can't be helped.

the man started his raucous rant about how he paid a ticket to have a comfortable flight

You didn't pay enough.

Next time buy first class on another airline if you want a comfortable flight.

We were kicked out of the Globe Theatre because our baby was whimpering - hardly crying. In London we were way at the back and our baby was making mostly cooing noises and the “lovely” lady in security told us we had to leave. Having been a father of a baby it is easy for me to sympathize with the parents. Honestly half the time parents have no clue why a baby cries. All of ours refused soothers. They would just spit them out. Somehow children know when you are sitting down. Our wonderful daughter would not soothe unless we were standing up and rocking her. Looking back now I miss those days.

“How do you know the parents did nothing to try to sooth their baby?”

As I told someone else, who asked, life experience. Never in my life have I seen a baby cry constantly for 45 minutes if the parents were at least making an attempt to sooth it. However, I’ve seen plenty of babies crying for long periods and the parents just ignoring them.

“Do you think the parents like to hear their baby scream, too?”

I think quite a few parents just get used to it.

The only time I had a baby cry inconsolably was when my 6 month old had a bad reaction to his DPT shot. His leg swelled up so bad, and he screamed for 2 hours straight. No amount of baby Tylenol, cool compress, or rocking could get him to calm down. It was unnerving. So yes, when a baby is in major pain, he or she will let you know about it. He never got the pertussis part of those shots again.

On a serious note, more people are more impatient and waiting for someone to light their fuse now than ever. Something is clearly going on and people are losing it everywhere. Road rage incidents are up. I’ve read things about people getting into arguments in grocery stores.
