As I am married to a lawyer, we are constantly subject to what I call “the attorney tax”— contractors and service providers and such just jack up the bill assuming we’re wealthy (and we are not.) We have even had contractors defraud us and had to hire lawyers ourselves! I have to keep track of when it fricking snows so I am not paying excess fees because someone assumes I don’t look at my bills! My point is Paltrow was right in not letting herself get shaken down by this guy, because that just opens the door wide for the next person to try the same thin
When the main witness was found to be lying, I think it was a hard sell.
Her stuff is weird, and maybe new agey, but I don’t think particularly woke.
His lawyers almost certainly took the case on a contingent fee basis.
Whatever. He wasted a lot of time during which he could have been traveling the world, as evidence has shown he is wont to do.

As much as I instinctively dislike Paltrow, I think she (and her lawyers) were correct in this; and I’m pleased that she prevailed.
I’m not defending the guy, just pointing out that he probably won’t have to pay his attorneys. It will certainly be painful for him to pay hers if that was part of the judgment.
I think that her demand was that he pay her $1, AND her court fees.
This guy was nuts to do this.
I liked her in Emma, but that's the only one.
