He was perfect in that.
lol
Methuselah was a gentile. Abraham was the first Jew (and even then, he was technically the first Hebrew).
An interesting character. Shamelessly hammy with a limited range, but fun to watch, partially because he loves his work so much.
So many conflicting rumors about him, it's hard to know if he's decent or not. I read one tabloid story saying he's a horndog on set, trying to shag anyone within reach.
I hope he lives to see the great departure/Rapture.
“ It would be interesting to be there to see if it is Scotty who beams him up.”
Gonna be a green woman. A hot one.
He truly is James Kirk.
He'll be leaving us an amazing legacy.
I loved the show when he was side kick to an arrogant attorney....or the other way around.
I saw 5 minutes of Pickard and I knew it was time for the Star Trek franchise to end. It’s dead Jim.
Yes he tended to overact with lesser actors but I aways saw him markedly improve when other more talented actors were in scenes with him. It’s as if he needed better talents in order to meter his own perfomances and tune his work to a much higher scale.
Watching his performance with scenes with Gary Lockwood in “Where no man has gone before...the 2nd Pilot episode and Shatner performs much better than one ever expects he could.
Gary Lockwood of course was in 2001 as Poole was definitely a bigger talent than that needed of a ST episode, but Shatner rises to meet the challenge. The one exchange between Lockwood, Nimoy and Shatner in the elevator where the captain was asked about the chess game, Nimoy complains about the illogical move, while the captain gazes at lockwood and does a quick “cut the throat” move signalling that he had beaten spock/nimoy, shows a bit of funny but subtle talent from Shatner one didn’t normally see from him. Lockwood I think brought that out of Shatner.
Lockwood would have made a hell of a captain but his talent was too big for the small screen, at least that particular show.
The dude is 90. He is correct.
I always appreciated his separating his acting career from his private life - truly recognizing that the “acting” was just a job. As successful as he was/is, for me he is just a self-effacing and humble guy, we could use more like him.
Here’s to at least another ten years!
As long as they’re over 18, they’ll probably ask for an autograph and put it on their resumes for life. Never heard a rumor that he was inappropriate. If asking with a willingness to be turned down is outlawed, how would anyone have a chance at relationships? Think back to college and how we all learned to interact with the opposite sex.
I saw it long ago. Pretty good, but an odd choice to shoot it in that language.
I did like Shatner in The Twilight Zone. He was in two episodes. The one in the diner with the devil fortune teller, and the "classic" one on a plane with gremlins. The former was well acted, the latter displayed his hamminess.
The third season isn’t bad but I sense it’s a passing of the torch. There is a young actor playing Picard’s son who looks dynamite on screen and in his acting... He’ a Brit, could pass for Shatner’s brother(in Shatner’s prime)...acts well! Looks like they could groom him for something fun in the ST universe.
He could stand up to Cumberbatch or McAvoy if the latter 2 were villains!
I never thought of him as humble. Nimoy and Takei both complained of his ego.
His interviews with Craig Ferguson on youtube are good. I was amazed at how good his physical abilities were, at the time I suppose he was in his 80’s. Climbing over chairs, traveling all over doing shows, etc.
Star Trek 2 was his best acting.
Somebody needs to take his car keys before he crashes again
Funny thing is, I hear more about their complaining of him than I do from Shatner about anything himself.
