That’s only $1,260 dollars in 2020 money. Thanks to Biden’s detonation of the nuclear inflation bomb.
Obscene.
It’s the old Hollywood do as I say/not as I do thing.
Bunch of F-ing hypocrites.
Same with me. And as for the Oscar broadcast, it’s hard to get excited to see which movie I’ve never seen or heard of, beats out some other movie I’ve never heard of, to win an award. And to sit through up to a 4 hour awards show is excessive anyway.

Yeah exactly that’s rich as they walk out from the oscars and step over the homeless with their six figure “Swag Bag”. Pathetic !!
Wasnt there a Sopranos episode where Christopher et al., strong-armed robbed these from an attendee or two?
Do those so-called “actors” have to report those six figure gifts on their income taxes?
Recipients will probably have the swag bags donated to a not for profit charity that they run.
Is there a Snicker’s bar in the bag? No? Then I won’t bother.
Basically, they’re a bribe to attend. Probably tax status, union issues and more why they aren’t simply given a cash payment. The sad thing is that some of the smaller fish, who would be the most likely to attend for the exposure anyway, end up paying taxes on these gifts. The IRS doesn’t care if you don’t use the gifts; they still are taxed on their cash value.
However, somehow The Academy has convinced Los Angeles to put a 2 block perimeter around the theater starting a week before the Awards. I used to live in the area and it was always a major traffic nuisance! Privileged spoiled rich people getting richer and more spoiled.
Grotesque.
Movie-ticket sales are still down almost 40% from before the pandemic. Probably 50 or more, accounted for inflation. And that was after almost two decades of stagnation despite population growth and inflation. Movie companies rely heavily on streaming services and overseas releases or else they could never afford to create modern blockbusters. Dramas and pure comedies (as oppose to occasionally funny action movies) are almost extinct.
The last truly successful year for movies was 2002 (Spider-Man, Star Wars Episode 2, Harry Potter 2, Lord of the Rings 2, Signs, My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Yes it’s like staring at a test pattern for 2 hours in the 60’s.
“What’s an ‘Oscar’?”
Are you logged in?
and on ebay they'll start the bidding at $1,260.
“The last truly successful year for movies was 2002”
You’d think Hollywood would be shut down by now.
Let them eat cake.
“Lash Fary said in a press release”
Sounds like a gay sadomasochist porn star.
Worse, the whole thing is a giant mutual masturbation society meeting. Ugh.
What other industry has the ability to project that vomit into your home? Nobody wants to watch the annual awards ceremony at the National Insurance Adjusters Society meeting.
