You’re the one who misread. The Family organization said the nuclear family is the best situation for kids. The Rep said the organization was extremist and un-American for saying the nuclear family is a good thing.

What America is this, in that the family unit no longer is supposed to represent the very best in terms of development of the potential of the next generation. The danger lies in forsaking all responsibility to some faceless representative of the State.
Governments do not teach children much of anything. They are well suited to the arts of indoctrination, which prepares the young for nothing except unquestioning obedience.
