Mark Twain War is the way most Americans learn about maps.

I like maps, but even more was the Encyclopedia. Had a row of them in the den. Much like the internet of today. My mom would get mad at me for having a bunch of them strewn out on the floor.
Reading about WWII it would say “Hitler”, so I'd have to pull out that book to read about that guy, and then they'd mention somebody named “Mussolini”, etc.

I credit my stamp collecting hobby for getting me into geography young. I would research everything I could about the stamps. Haven’t collected in years, but I’ve still got my books somewhere.

Yes. Same here. Always loved geography in school, but it was the geographical place that was so interesting.
