I’m old enough (89) to remember the family doctor always coming to the house if you were sick...
Today, every time you call a doctor’s office for an appointment, the recorded voice always tells you that, if you are really sick, go to the nearest ER...
So the choice is:
- schedule an appt for 3-4 months into the future
or
- go to the ER and wait 3-4 hours while they sift through the crowds of uninsured MIVs cluttering up the waiting room...
My good friend, who is also a physician, recommended ALWAYS go to the ER in an ambulance... That will cut the “wait time” in half...

Yeah I’ve gotten the same “rhetoric” from my coworkers.
It’s very hard to work alongside people who literally think you deserve to die for not taking a dangerous, experimental, and ineffective injection.

This is a liability thing. People will call their PCP when they run their hand through a table saw. And wait for a call back. The same for heart attacks.
I know it sounds silly. It just proves you have common sense. Many people don’t.
I get drs appointments fairly quick if needed unless it’s the VA then it’s months but I had an appointment at 3pm the other day. Got there at 2:45. Finally got put in an exam room to wait on the Dr just before 4pm. I walked out a 5pm after never seeing a Dr and said my time is just as valuable as yours.
F’d up to say the least.
I can’t imagine any possible situation that could occur that would require one to cancel a doctors appointment. Knowing that it could take weeks and weeks to reschedule

When we were in NY we had our established doctors and medical care there was better than it has been here, even with the allegedly fantastic care offered by the very large Dartmouth Hitchcock network.
One of my relatives announced at a recent family gathering that "everyone who voted for Trump should just die." That would apply to around 92% of her large family of in-laws, where she has always been welcomed.
The last time I made an appointment with my doctor I got in about an hour later. Never had an issue getting in pretty fast. And I’m on Medicare.

No, outside Philly.
I was supposed to have my physical, but had to reschedule this past October.
Closest was September something.
It’s not important, but I was astonished.
