The televised Oscar show will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel...That's guaranteed to limit the audience. Greatly.

As Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young once sang: "Step out of line, and they'll come to take you away."Actually that was the Buffalo Springfield but why quibble?

The last time I watched the Oscars the emcee was either Johnny Carson or Bob Hope.
Long time ago.

I didn’t see the oscars, but I saw there was the usual controversy. I guess there was a coven of the usual harlots crying that their wasn’t enough participation trophies given to chick directors. I guess the proper number of diversity awards were handed out to enough other oppressed groups though as I didn’t hear other squawks

The line was, “Step outta line, the man come, etc.”
You must be quoting a woke version.

If Ricky Gervais was the host, I would watch the intro at least.

I don’t know if it won an award, but Churchill and 1917 were good movies, too. I enjoyed Dunkirk as well.

“It was CODA. Didn’t see it.”
It’s not my type of movie.
From imdb.com:
As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family’s fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents.
One brief sex scene that shows heavy thrusting. Various comedic crude references to orgies, oral sex, ejaculation and sex (a majority done by hand guestures).
Some uses of ‘shit’, ‘asshole’, ‘bitches’. ‘Suck my dick’ is said out loud.

I don’t know if it won an award, but Churchill ...You mean The Darkest Hour? Gary Oldman won the Best Actor award for that. Deservedly so IMHO.

CODA wasn’t woke, and that’s probably why it won. The sane people in the industry got their backs up. Bill O’Reilly doesn’t have the slightest idea what he’s talking about.
I have zero interest in who wins the Oscars— unless, of course, one of my favorites should win, in which case I will be gratified. I do find the lists of nominations for best picture, and in the acting and directing categories, worth checking in my personal hunt for good films. More content is being produced than ever before. A lot of it is junk. Finding the good stuff can be a challenge. Screening mechanisms are a place to begin. I use the selection lists for major festivals for the same purpose.
I’d like to see Bill Nighy or Colin Farrell win for Best Actor. I don’t have a strong rooting interest this year on any of the other awards.

Blacks demanding to be placed at the center of every ceremony probably hasn’t helped the ratings either.
