The rich tend to eat pricier lean foods, they don’t use fillers like starches and hamburger helper,

"I don't know why they call this stuff 'Hamburger Helper', it does just fine by itself."

“The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the largest federal nutrition assistance program. SNAP provides benefits to eligible low-income individuals and families via an Electronic Benefits Transfer card. This card can be used like a debit card to purchase eligible food in authorized retail food stores”

I see people using these in my grocery store all the time.

Seems to me the SNAP program allows for purchasing all the healthy food one would need.....couple that with the brandon administration touting how low unemployment is and I just don’t understand the problem.

Sounds like more fear/guilt porn to me.

I haven’t heard a word about any of this here and I know if there was a hint of it going on the local lib media would be all over it.

Also, we were at at trader Joe’s just yesterday. Mrs V_TWIN loves it.

you know what?
they can get a salad at Mickey D’s just as easily as getting a grilled chix sandwich.
and skip the fries, or just eat less of them.
If they cooked food they could eat better.
I’m trying not to cry for them right now.

I knew Randy Quaid at one time when we were young and wild in Houston.

These threads always bring out a lot of ignorant virtue signaling about how eating poor should make one skinny from lack of food rather than fat from eating poor people’s food.

A few people think that being fat is a sign of wealth and so our poor being overweight means they are rolling in food money.

I’m a single person and make a good income, but I still set a budget and try to stick to it. Inflation has made it harder each week to stay on track, and if it’s hard for me I can only imagine what it’s like to try and feed a family on an income considerably less than mine.

From the article, one woman said “They have a combined household income of around $120,000.
“We live pretty much paycheck to paycheck,” she said.”

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you kidding me?
What a ding bat!
They are apparently living outside of their means!
I could eat like a QUEEN on that kind of money!

It really depends on where you live, if you have teenage boys in the house they can eat you out of house and home!!

My Dad used to call him a bottomless pit!

IMHO we could definitely use less picky folks like that around.

The self-indulgent, self-centered egomaniacs running around this nation make Veruca Salt look mannered.

You and I are on the same wavelength, for sure. A few random thoughts:

I live very rural, so the only place for my main grocery shopping is Walmart, and that’s a 20 mile round trip as it is. I usually order on line, then go pick it up and combine all of my errands into one morning a week. (Gas, Post Office, etc.)

This very WEEK I noticed that Walmart has started putting a little tag on items that you can buy with your EBT card on-line. (SNAP program here in WI.)

That tells ya something RIGHT THERE. EBT users obviously have computers or phones to do their grocery shopping on-line, just like me, ‘Ms. Richie Rich,’ LOL!

(I don’t have a Smart phone; just a flip phone - and they wanted to charge me $80/month for internet. Nope!)

I have no answers for poor people, though I’ve PURPOSEFULLY lived my LIFE as a ‘poor person’ so I could retire early.

Methinks that day is coming.

Some people are going to have a really rough time of it being deprived of the ability to satisfy every whim on the spur of the moment.

Not that I’m going to be feeling sorry for them. Nothing like a good dose of reality to clear the fog out of one’s brain.
