Right now, we have BA.4 and BA.5, subvariants of the Omicron variant. Supposedly, these boosters would protect against Omicron. Will we have the Pi variant this fall? I don’t know. Maybe we’ll have Omicron subvariants BA.6 and BA.7.
With Omicron being so contagious and usually rather mild, won’t most have natural immunity by fall, anyway? The booster might make sense for frail elderly people and those with certain conditions, but ... I guess we’ll see what the situation is this fall.
Correct. That’s why it’s assumed only people that are feeling sick are seeking medical attention and being tested.
But of those being tested, Covid-19 is fading fast. Which of course is normal.

I meant to say that but I’m multi tasking.
By the time the doses with the included BA.6 and BA.7 variants are out……a whole new Variant could be moving into the scene and taking the spotlight. Then another, and another.
I think we need to start to learn to live with it until it’s finished.

I’m not a virologist, so I don’t know how likely a whole new variant would be.
Is the Omicron variant so dominant it’s squeezed out all others so that only Omicron left? In which case we’ll just have more and more subvariants of Omicron and never see a Pi variant of Covid?
I simply don’t know. Maybe Jim Noble knows, so I’ll ping him. I’m really curious. For some reason, I find things like that interesting.
