I used to be a devout agnostic. Then, finally, I realized I am not alone.
No. The opposite of heaven is solitude.
From Wiki: Josemaría Escrivá had a Jesuit priest as a spiritual director (Fr. Sánchez) at the time that he founded Opus Dei (1928ff.).[44] As a result, he apparently based some of the practices of Opus Dei on the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus,[45] such as: required manifestation of conscience to a superior, seeking prestigious people for membership, a military-style hierarchical authority structure,[46] and an emphasis on blind obedience as a means of efficiency in the apostolate.[47]
Nevertheless, the Superior-General of the Society of Jesus Fr. Wlodimir Ledóchowski (1866–1942) later told the Vatican he considered Opus Dei “very dangerous for the Church in Spain.” He described it as having a “secretive character” and saw “signs in it of a covert inclination to dominate the world with a form of Christian Masonry.”[48] In the 1950’s, some Jesuits told Italian parents of members of Opus Dei that their sons were being led to damnation. etc.
I’m signing off. My brain (such as it is) is demanding me to shut down.
Responding to the headline alone, I now like Opus Dei.
I have no argument. For starters, it seems that you have received the blessing of longevity. Secondly, I too have become disenchanted with some in the pulpit.
My wife is Methodist so we attend Methodist service together. The members are generally a wonderful group of people. Good Christians. While most sermons are fine, a small number rub the wrong way.
One, otherwise excellent minister, told us that we should say “black lives matter” rather than “all lives matter.” He had a well-crafted story to tell. Christian faith should, IMO, live in the shadow of eternity. That pastor’s message was not a message of eternal value. I don’t even think it was good for this decade.
The Methodist leadership, who we never see but who we fund, are very left-wing.
One female bishop is convinced that her love of her female spouse is granted by God. She sounds sincere. So did a relative who married a guy who underwent surgery, “out of true love,” to become a woman (sort of). Fast forward three years and they are divorced. I don’t think the surgery can be reversed. Oh well, too bad. The relative has found meaning with another guy. Who can argue with true love (again)?
I believe that many people first con themselves, then speak sincerely to others.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett is (or was) a member of a charismatic group called “People of Praise,” not Opus Dei. This has nothing to do with the Dobbs decision.
“One wonders what Bannon’s relationship is to Opus Dei, the supremely patriarchal and sexist fascist order that was mightily supported by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict. They love to go where the power lies and have eagerly infiltrated Fox News and other media as well as the CIA, FBI and Supreme Court, as I have documented in my book The Pope’s War.[6]”
I don’t recall—where is the Lutheran Church on environmentalism, abortion, feminism, female ministers, homosexuality. . . ?

Depends on which of the two major branches you’re referring to. LCMS is quite orthodox and conservative in the Lutheran sense.
The Bible teaches that we reap what we sow, and the schism that Rome sowed against the East was reaped with the literally tens of thousands of various Protestant denominations - most claiming to “just believe the Bible” and yet differing with each other as to what that Bible says and means.

The fatal weakness of Protestantism, a never-ending proliferation of sects each one relying on SOLA SCRIPTURA to justify their creation.
And for Catholics weary of the antics of Francis, in Orthodoxy you can continue to be Western Rite and celebrate the Latin Mass.
Orthodox Patriarchs and Bishops will not fight to suppress your traditional worship, they support and praise it.

Which may turn out to be the refuge of last resort for traditionalists when Satan’s Pope condemns the SSPX and excommunicates all of its priests and pew sitters!

Complete nonsense, as one might expect from a virulent hater of all things Catholic.
I really have no idea. Have seen it speculated elsewhere re: AB and OD, but personally have no clue. Just posted in case there might be connection and thus connection in the timing here.
It would appear to be valid but illicit.
Like Francis has done?
I’ll take Sola Scriptura over the papist Sola Ekklesia any day.

Neither you nor anyone else, now or ever, has based their Christian beliefs on that nonsensical protestant doctrine.
It’s a fiction and a laughable fantasy that has resulted in an ENDLESS proliferation of howling protestant sects all jostling one another in their quest for more victims. Meanwhile Satan herself is highly amused by it all!
I most certainly do base my theology on SS. And there are just as many conflicting sects within the Roman Catholic Church from the Father Phleger crowd, to the Martin crowd, to the modern German homo crowd to the traditionalists like Burke to the far left Cupich crowd to Francis who tries to straddle all the fences. Like I said I’ll take Sola Scriptura any day because it provides me an objective God breathed foundation.
They supported him to the max.
