Re the Bolt.

A couple of years ago I started a friendly family game re counting Bolts.

I am the winner so far with 3, about one a year.

The other 6 family members have one each, and my wife has yet to identify a Bolt vehicle. 3 family members live in a semi touristy small town, and there probably isn’t a charger there.

What they don’t tell you is it is designed to be a PHEV and the extricate only vehicle is for the CA market. The hybrid will have a small rotary generator and be powered by the electric drive. Range yet to be proven but more in the 250 - 300 if I recall correctly.

The Chinese Communists are engaged in tyranny. "Central planning" is tyrann, by the way.

Do you support "central planning"? Do you think these United States should engage in "central planning"? Do you think that "what the ChiComs are trying to achieve" is a good thing?

Please come entirely out of the closet.

From China, Tesla has a tremendously large Asian and Pacific rim market.

This seems unlikely.

China will simply steal Tesla tech, as it has done with numerous other companies.

The Chinese made version will be cheaper, and/or the Tesla production in China will be hampered/hamstrung by the CCP.

It is how the CCP works.

That’s interesting.
The rotary engine is typically poor fuel economy and high emissions.
Maybe they’ve made some breakthroughs.

LOL in the age of Inflation Joe, you can’t buy a new golf cart for that price.

Quite correct...

Maybe I can find a used Mazda, with the range reduced to 50 miles... It would work for my purposes...

My 11 year old John Deere broke down right at the beginning of mowing season. I’m going to get it repaired and keep it.

“...and thanks for testing that out”

I also tested the J&J out so I got that going for me. (!@$#$%^&*)

My Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE cost me around $28K with taxes and has a 125K bumper-to-bumper warranty. At 54-60 MPG now, time will tell if it is sustainable as a commuter car.

And, yes, we need to reverse the political think that wants higher fuel prices. Maybe in 2024 we'll see candidate promising under $2.50 a gallon fuel. That's trump Democrat's effort to raise it to $10.

It’s supposed to be a micro or mini rotary running quietly at its most efficient range. Light, small, efficient and purpose built. We’ll see if Mazda is on the right path with electric drive backed up by rotary power generation. They have plans for their bigger vehicles to use the same setup.

I have a CX 30, same power train as the bigger vehicles. Gets about 36 mpg at 85 mph on a highway trip. Nice car for the money. This is not your Mazda of the 20th century.

When I post a reply to any page talking pro EV I get a red ! Saying that my post was not submitted. Occasionally I get a box that pops up that says Facebook has restricted my ability to comment on page posts. It also seems to affected MSNBC and other lefty pages that spew false information. I have noticed that when I reply to posts from conservative pages they go through

So your wife and child can die during childbirth due to complications and your inability to charge the vehicle. Or, it died in the middle of the ghetto on the way to the hospital and the BLM/Anti-fa types were only concerned about kicking your ass as your wife and the useless-to-them fetus in her womb lay there dying.

.....hmmmmm; one of the very best cars we ever owned was a 2001 Mazda 626 sedan....had it for several years and never had any major problems with it...only reason we traded it in was because we are getting old(er) and could not longer get in and out of it comfortably...!! got two CUVs and are happy as clams at high tide.....

Mazda must have peaked in the last few years then. Scotty was saying that Mazda was becoming the best car company these days. I have a 2016 Mazda CX5 and it is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I know that Mazda used to be mediocre in some aspects like body paint, and now seeing what they have done with the E CX30, makes me wonder if my next car should be another Mazda.

I live in a small farm community.
To go into town is a minimum of 25 miles round trip.
So if I had to go twice in winter or summer I would be approaching “Range anxiety” territory.
To go to ANY larger town is a minimum of 60 miles EACH WAY.
This car would not get me there and back.
Having to “Lay over” for several hours just to do casual shopping will never be acceptable.
At $35,000 this is a clunker.

Here in Ga, the state charges from 225 to 325 a year more taxes on EVs to make up for not paying road taxes on fuel. Some states charge more.

Yeah. My son and his partner live in an appartment just a couple of blocks off broadway in Capital Hill in Seattle. But they DO have an indoor stall.

But you’re right. Until they come up with some practical charging infrastructure it’s not an option. So that leaves them to one group: Rich people who want a novelty car.

I agree. But I did love motorcycle commuting to downtown seattle in my full rain and snowmobile suits, and being able to park for free in the downtown garages. They would let you park in “nooks and crannies”, but not in actual spaces.

The city guy who only drives a couple miles a day can drive a 78 Impala for all it matters. If you never drive, why bother with a $50,000 car?

There’s really no scenario where current EV’s make any economic sense.

We have a Scion iA, which is actually a Mazda 2. I bought it as my wife’s “running around town” car, but we’ve driven it all over the country, including two trips to Seattle from our home in south central Kentucky. It really shines at one of the main things I liked about it: It is relatively quiet and feels much bigger than it really is. So far it has 135k miles on it and the only failure was the serpentine belt at 130k, and that was my own fault.
