109? It was 109 degrees at 9:00am this morning. It’s now 116. Bullhead City, AZ.

Yep...on the way to 114 in Phoenix. I have to laugh at the Freepers who posit that everyone should be growing their own food and be self-sufficient.

Crops grow fine in the Yuma and Phoenix areas in 110+ heat..as long as there is water.

My maters are hanging in there for a few reasons. They get shade at 4pm. They’re heavily mulched. I water them lightly every 2-3 days in the early evening. I’ve still had some blossom drop but also have a lot of maters coming on. Days over 95 and nights over 75 tend to cause blossom drop and that’s been the weather here most days for over a month now.

30 degrees? Peas, most brassicas, most greens, lettuce, spinach, carrots. Might need row covers on really cold nights.

I’m building something next year or this Fall dammit. High tunnel, low tunnel, lean-to greenhouse against the house, row covers if nothing else. That way I can start things earlier. We had 20s in late March and hit 90s in May this year. That was the end of the cool weather crops and most hadn’t matured yet.If I had cover, I could have started them a month earlier.

Right, Macoozie, it's the humidity.

In very dry air a 65° breeze can cut to the bone and 100° is comfy. Bring on any humidity over 100° and you can stop laboring and not be called lazy.

Here be mid to upper 90’s for most of this week in New Jersey

Cucumbers are coming in, lots of tomato - just starting to ripen , plenty of green ones, Some zucchini

If it gets too hot can kill the pollen and bees dont like to work when it gets too hot

After your heat stroke, you’d be on IVs.

It's a dry heat

So is the inside of my oven but I wouldn't want to stick my face in it all day.

Kale! Nothing can kill it! Even on years I don’t PLANT any Kale...I still get Kale! ;)

(J/K - Kale can survive high heat with some shade, but it’s not recommended as a standard ‘Desert Plant.’)

Prickly Pear Cactus is yummy. We grow it up here on the Frozen Tundra, believe it or not. My Mom has a patch of it in her garden. It’s a PITA to fix; kind of like cleaning an Artichoke. A lot of work for little reward. ;)

Humidity: 12%. Sitting on the porch. It’s pleasant.

Damn that’s whacked!

But you’d think our winters of 38 below zero is nuts……😆😂🤣
