From the Indianapolis Children’s Museum’s watermelon salad to Walmart’s swirled red velvet and cheesecake flavored ice cream to Dollar Tree’s Pan African-themed plates and napkins, inclusion experts say corporations are missing the mark with Juneteenth. By failing to provide any historical context with these items, the companies don’t appear to have considered how they could promote stereotypes or offend Black people, experts say. So, I guess that the burning crosses they added to "provide context" didn't help any, either?

it’s a stupid name and a stupid propaganda holiday
they should call it what it is, national hate whitey day
To: Pikachu_Dad
We should probably always have had some commemoration of this. (If we made it the day of the actual Proclamation, it would have been lost in New Year’s day.)

I LOVE watermelons, but became allergic to them later in life. Not just watermelons either. All melons. No cantaloupe or honeydew for me either. It makes me very sad, but it’s not worth it for me anymore. I think it must be how an alcoholic must feel. There is temptation, but I have to deal with it, and let it go.

What's the problem with watermelon? I'm as white as white can be and I *love* watermelon. Why is it a problem if some (or,perhaps, many) black people like it too? So you're White, huh?
Well, wouldn't you be offended if you had been invited to a predominately Black celebration, with chiefly Black attendants, and were offered Jell-O with mini-marshmallows and grapes floating in it? How about N. Dakota style potato salad?
(I jest!)

What holiday has not been overly commercialized? Losing the real meaning of a holiday is a sign of total acceptance into the mainstream culture.

Not quite.
