Nobody buys DVDs anymore. But people do buy blurays...and more and more people (including me) have 4K sets. I will absolutely buy this one when it comes out in 4K,the picture quality is sure to be breathtaking.

But people do buy blurays.

Bluray sales have been declining since 2014.

Yes,I understand that bluray sales aren't what they once were. But consider this...a couple of years ago I bought a very nice Sony 4K set and we got a Playstation 5 (which plays 4K discs). Since then I've bought,on ebay, classics like Lawrence of Arabia,The Dark Knight,2001,Goodfellas,Apocalypse Now and a dozen or more of those amazing BBC Nature Specials (among many other things) and to watch them in 4K is breathtaking. I'll wager that many, many people will buy this new Top Gun film in 4K.

Yes,kids today don't do discs...just as they don't do CDs.But for the very best quality your films should be on 4K discs and your music should be on CDs.

1984 to 1988 were the best years ever.

I heard someone say it was basically a of the one from the 80’s?

They had a formula that work, and they used it.

The youtube video that BiglyCommentary linked is a superb recap of Dave Berke's career as a Marine Corps fighter pilot and Top Gun instructor.

Dave was a 13 year old kid when he saw the original Top Gun Movie. He decided then and there that he wanted to be a fighter pilot.

He relates his experiences as a fighter pilot & Top Gun Instructor to the Top Gun movie.

There is a couple of "Spoiler Alerts" in the interview. So, if you plan to see the movie, bookmark the interview and see the movie first.

Here's why you should see this movie, even if you want Hollyweird to implode.

1. Hollywood isn't going away. Such wishful thinking is like the guys pushing gold and doomsday shelters and economic doom newsletters, and reminds me of Mean Girls....it's not going to happen.

2. Hollywood and Hollyweird are two separate tribes (ask max). True, the studios and many major players may push wokey nonsense, but they like cash. Peak domestic box office take was $12bn in 2018. Top Gun has the potential to become a major draw in 2022 AND historic terms. It is pulling in not just older people but across ALL demographics. Go figya...ya stop trashing gthe values that make America great and you make a fortune. In fact, they way how you don't know if the Enemy is Russia, China, or Norway (that was great) means our TRUE enemies will PAY TO SEE THEMSELVES LOSE! Genius, and even wokey people like lobster vs tuna.

3. Wither Hollyweird. The studios will take note of Top Gun's success and the failure of wokey nonsens. In every profession, consultants push this and that idea...some take root but over time the bad ones die. If you see Top Gun AND Boycott stupid stuff, they'll notice.

4. You'll feel good. Before the film, they ran a self-serving short with Nicole Kidman suggesting that movies are good for your soul. Well...call me maleable, she was right. I felt good about America, the future, our past, and how to advance after the film. It is THAT GOOD.

Good, nay GREAT art helps the soul. It moves you in a way like no other media. This is great art. Let's use the Invisible Hand to hasten the demise (or at least retrenchment) of Hollyweird.

Appreciate your input on this. Yes, if we make a point of supporting the good content Hollywood puts out while ignoring the "woke" crap, we can make a difference.

Hollywood isn't going away but by making pro-America movies blockbuster hits and "woke" crap bombs, we have ability to set the tone.

I was going to see ‘Jurassic World Dominion’. But after seeing 3 trailers for it, I am going to pass. The dinosaur action looked good, but I don’t like the story line. Which is that the dinosaurs have escaped, so that now they pop up randomly all over the world, including frozen territories.

Maybe the dinosaurs are mail-in ballots!

“didn’t disclose which is the bad guy country..”

I thought I heard Iraq or Iran one time, but maybe not.

It was a very exciting and decent show.
