I don’t see how the Mavericks or the stadium is responsible for this. The stadium owners and the security contractor are going to settle for a very large sum if the family's lawyer is correct about the abductor getting in to the American Airlines Center with a fake ticket sold to him by a person known for selling fake tickets.

In a big public venue, you never allow young girls to go alone anywhere, out of sight.

In Texas the age of accountability is 17 not 20. You can move out free from your guardians at 17 and can consent to adult activities as well. Under extenuating circumstances a 16 year old can petition the court for emancipation but a parent cannot. A parent can in Texas release custody at any age up to 17 at which point the child becomes a ward of the state and enters the CPS system into foster care or if applicable a juvenile corrections center.
