...and nice reclining seats that go all the way down. And privacy curtains.
A self-driving car pulled into our neighborhood street today and I got stuck behind it. It kept slowing and slowing. The closer I got, the more it slowed. Finally it pulled over to the right to let me by. What a POS that was. Whatever company is testing that junk has a long ways to go.
I’ve always wondered if a self driving/
braking car recognizes a cliff when it
sees one.
We have a lot of ev pimps here.
We have our own lot of Low info voters here.
Even elevators have an emergency stop button.
Well for God’s sake. I hope it has a seatbelt then.
Of course, because the cars are safe, safe, safe and can never be hacked.
Why do they have to look like cars or even resemble a car or truck?
Effin’ computers are always having hiccups and are constantly being updated. Will they have a cursor? grrr
Gee, it just went black. Oh, never mind. The cursor was in the corner.

Or a major pothole or sinkhole in the street in front of it.
Look on the bright side...we will save a bunch on the liability portion of our car insurance...only need comprehensive in case a tree falls on it, hail, etc..
Manufacturer is liable for any collisions while moving. Car owner is just along for the ride!
I only bring this up as my son and I were
out on a 4-wheel excursion on a beautiful
sunlit day in NM. Driving along a trail
overgrown with brush, it was difficult to
barely make out the trail ahead more than
20 to 30 feet. I had to stop for nature’s
call. I walked about 40 feet to the front
into a small opening. Before me was one of
the most beautiful vistas I’ve ever
witnessed. A broad view of a canyon with
1000 foot drop-offs on both sides. Sheer
cliffs. God was with me that day.
we cant have people free to drive their own cars
hey where is my car taking me? this isnt the way to grandma’s.

NHTSA has been historically reluctant to reduce EVERY standard it has ever had on the books. A classic example is the parking brake requirement. In an automatic transmission vehicle, the parking brake is redundant to the mechanical interlock in the transmission. You can’t even turn the engine off, unless the parking pawl is engaged. Yet, the NHTSA regulations not only require a redundant parking brake, it also must use a “friction element”. Modern electronically controlled transmissions and braking - stability control systems make this totally unnecessary.
I don’t believe NHTSA will ever give up this type of control, unless congress actually passes a law requiring it.
It is widely known that those sort of things were also removed from airplanes that have auto-pilots and auto-landers. </ sarcasm>
The parking brake can be used when parking on a hill to relieve the transmission lock of undue pressure. That makes it so much easier to move the lever from “park” to a motion setting.
Yeah...I think I’m gonna sharpen up my machete and start working on my bushwhacking skills.
To date here have been 7x as many burned to death by battery fires in Teslas as were killed by fires stemming from gas tank ruptures in Ford Pintos.
Yet in a less litigious era the Pinto was sued into oblivion and today the US government subsidizes Tesla’s rolling crematoriums.
