Ukraine had no military that could invade Russia. We're seeing that now. They are killing Russians with MANPADs and Javelins because their regular army just doesn't stand a chance.
The US was not planning to put nukes into Ukraine. (They haven't done it with the other countries that border Russia) or any weapons system that could be a threat to them.
Russian bullshit about "promises" from the US not to expand NATO are exposed by the fact that Russia has actually broken every single arms agreement they've signed with us since 1991, resulting in them becoming the most powerful nuclear force in the world.
Russia has more nukes than the US, UK and France combined, rendering claims that it is "threatened" a bunch of horseshit.
So when you start ranting and raving about a "deep state war," remember, YOU are the one telling the West that they should surrender to a warmongering power who is in league with every other anti-American dictatorship on planet Earth, from China to Venezuela and Iran.
That's not me, dummy. That's all you, no matter how many times you falsely and deceptively attempt to paint your opponents as "deep staters" or "supporters of Joe Biden." I agree. Putin is brutal but he is not stupid.Putin does not want the headache of occupying Kiev with a civilian insurgency over the next 10 years taking shots at their occupying troops, hit and run javelin attacks on their tanks, assassination attempts on their puppets, etc. Putin made that decision before invading. This is not about Kiev and they are stalling by circling Kiev while they attend to what they really want, closing off Ukraine in the East to the Black Sea, recognition of Crimea as a Russian territory and establishing the 2 Eastern primarily Russian provinces as breakaway republics as well as assurances of Ukraine neutrality and assurances Ukraine will not join NATO or the EU. Odds are, one way or the other, he will get what he wants. In the end, it has little to do with US vital national security interests.
Seems to be exactly what they are doing.
Also giving enough time for two million Ukrainians to pack up and leave.
Their strategy is old-fashioned, but effective.

“Reportedly” Do you mean like in reportedly a Ukrainian pilot shot down 5 Russian Migs in 4 minutes? Even if this simple fact was not bull propaganda, which I will not concede, does anecdotal incidents draw a full picture of the battle in Eastern Ukraine where the real war is being fought and civilians are fleeing under the shelling. Have you looked at a map there to see the growing red areas put out by the international news media and defense sources here that are now under Russian control? And, lastly, when is the last time you have seen a General officer killed in combat anywhere. Very rare occurrence even when you are winning the war. Generally, when it occurs, it is an accidental hit and there is another general right behind him to replace him.
No, I mean “reportedly” like the other Russian general who got a snipers bullet and had a funeral in Russia a few days ago.

Good argument. I always liked succinct emotional virtuous moral outrage. But the problem is I don’t think he will listen to me. He may listen to you if you pick up a gun and go over there to demonstrate your outrage. I think you will find outrage is not a sufficient defense against an overwhelming military force chopping up an underwhelming, albeit courageous, defense. That’s why sane folks make concessions to buy time to survive and fight another day. Apparently, your mental toughness and virtue prevents you from subscribing to that notion.
So many actual great statesmen told is for years that is what Putin wanted, not “Reconstructing the Soviet Empire!”tm, as many gaslighters claim.
