It was interesting listening to Tucker last night. He argued that Biden caused this war by suggesting Ukraine join Nato, which could result in nuclear weapons being placed on Ukraine’s border with Russia. Russia doesn’t want that threat on their border, just like the US didn’t want Russian nukes in Cuba.
It sounds like a good deal to me . I also think Ukraine needs to sign an agreement keeping them out of our elections and bribing our politicians.

The notion that Putin alone has these ideas is ridiculous. Nearly all of Russian society, from right to left, agree that NATO is an aggressive, anti-Russian organization. They don't all agree what to do about it, or how it affects their own political freedoms - but nearly all hold this view of NATO
Even stupider - if Putin dies tomorrow, I guarantee you even harder nationalists / Generals take over.

I’m sure Poland would have accepted giving up Danzig for peace in 1939 if such an offer was made after the Wehrmacht was in Warsaw. But of course the Germans never made such an offer after the fighting started.

Just like American oligarchs, they want what's best for their own power and money.
Putin came to power and remains popular because he controls the oligarchs. He kicked them out of political power, controlled their media, controls their ties with western finance, NGOs, etc... He's also made sure his own cronies are in place, and likely takes a cut for himself too. But the economy-wide public raping the oligarchs did in the 90s and 2000s is over. No one ever said they were nationalists.
