I have yet to see the newest “Dune” movie because I understand that its the first of two movies.
But I did re-read the book and it’s as great as the first time I read it.

“Dune” lost its luster for me a long time ago. I recently re-read the first book in the series and it seemed really flat. Like the Fremen are unrealistic, for example. Where does their food come from?

When I read sci-fi fantasy I try not to let details like that take away from the escape I enjoy from reading.
I guess a lazy answer for you is “they either import it or smuggle it in”.
Right now I'm spending my time reading “black ops” types of action adventure fiction. Mostly during intermission at hockey games.
