Milans Kundera - “You begin to liquidate a people by taking away its memory. You destroy its books, its culture, its history. And then others write other books for it, give another culture to it, invent another history for it. Then the people slowly begins to forget what it is and what it was.”

The idiocy is by design since they no longer teach anything of value, especially any history, especially any accurate history, especially any accurate American history, in public school.

honestly didn’t know this either, obviously, I knew what the city was named for, but never considered the “DC” part and that the city of Washington was part of a larger area, and that’s what the DC is for.

Very well said. Is that from his Unbearable Lightness of Being novel?

Next question should be, “See that really tall four-sided, narrow tapering monument which ends in a pyramid-like shape. Why is it there?”

He was asking Californians, who without a doubt are some of the dumbest people in the country based of how they vote.

It was placed at the end of the Mall so congress critters could look out from the Capitol Building so they could know which way was up.

Having been raised in Washington, D.C. it was a futile effort.

Hi.

I blame the NEA, Jimmah Carter, Clinton and Baraq 0bama for this.

And a couple of others.

I have a question that needs to be answered:

I have some 400 million-year-old pink Himalayan salt in my kitchen cabinet but hadn't used it for a long time. Just noticed it's expired... it should have been used by September 2021...

My question? Is it still safe to eat?

I saw that on Star Trek. It’s an asteroid deflector, but no one remembers the password to get it working again.

Columbia, is a goddess. It is ruled over by the godless who worship that goddess. She is represented in NY as a tall Copper statue.

I think George Washington, would be appalled that his name is applied to that godless district.

You are correct as this wiki article states but ole Chris still gets credit.

Columbia (/kəˈlʌmbiə/; kə-LUM-bee-ə) is the female national personification of the United States. It was also a historical name applied to the Americas and to the New World. The association has given rise to the names of many American places, objects, institutions and companies, including the District of Columbia; Columbia, South Carolina; Columbia University; “Hail, Columbia” and Columbia Rediviva; the Columbia River; and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Images of the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World, erected in 1886) largely displaced personified Columbia as the female symbol of the United States by around 1920, although Lady Liberty was seen as an aspect of Columbia.[1] However, Columbia’s most prominent display today is being part of the logo of the Hollywood film studio Columbia Pictures.

Columbia is a New Latin toponym, in use since the 1730s with reference to the Thirteen Colonies which formed the United States. It originated from the name of the Genoese explorer Christopher Columbus and from the Latin ending -ia, common in the Latin names of countries (paralleling Britannia, Gallia, Zealandia, and others).
