This guy is as sicko and deserves everything he gets. But this effort to demonize P2P, TOR, and Linux by associating and making a big deal that he used them bothers me. Just because he happened to use these tools does not make the tools evil. But this is the picture they are trying to paint.

Let me explain. Josh was using these things to go around something called “Covenant Eyes” that was installed on his computer to make sure he was not doing shit he was not suppose to do. His accountability partner was his wife Anna and she got emails ever time he went somewhere on the web he was not suppose to.
Here is the catch. Covenant Eyes does not track anything done on Linux, and the makers of this say it’s because not too many use this system so they did not make it to track on Linux. Josh found the loophole. He made a Linux partition to hide from covenant Eyes and his wife just not from the Federal Government.
Those tools are bad, Josh just used them for bad.

Because of the age of the victims and the violent nature of the pornography, he will get the maximum sentence for each count. What I don't know is if they can be stacked, i.e., multiple sentences served consecutively, one after the other.
I’m just telling you what the news has reported and keeps reporting, that is he is facing 20 years per count and there are two counts. I believe it has to do with the age of the children. He’s looking at 40 years.

Absolutely my observation too, and I detect an agenda in the original article to make an association to demonize these tools just because he used them for evil. Just as they do with the AR-15 rifle. If someone uses a shovel to dig a hole in the wrong place you cannot blame the shovel, or even the make of shovel. But they do, and try to.
Covenant Eyes cannot tap Linux because there are no back doors like ALL MS software. If they had not happen on to the text Dugger made with a “possible” password that just happened to be the same, it would have taken 10 years or more for a powerful computer to crack the encryption on that encrypted Linux drive “vault”.
Linux encrypted drives just work and why Covenant Eyes doesn’t waste time to try. hey have no “keys” to the back door like MS ware. And that security is what they are trying to demonize here. They really do not like something that actually works to protect privacy. And they are taking the opportunity to exploit the opportunity while is hot.
Just one more effort to remove all privacy from everyone...
