That staffing shortage is actually not accurate. My firefighter buddy tells me that many more firehouses are at half staff or less and they are losing guys due to injuries every other hour. Then Monday thousands will be suspended.

That just makes sense. It’s not just missing the ones being suspended. The other guys have to pick up the slack and are overworked. That means more stress and more injuries in an already stressful and dangerous job. It’s a snowball effect that ivory tower politicians have no clue about.

I agree. I know a policeman in Tempe, and when he went to assist a disabled motorist with a flat tire, the motorist insisted he put on a mask before changing it. The police officer wished the motorist a nice day and went on.

The fires with understaffed responses will get the headlines, but I’m guessing most calls the NY Fire Department gets are for paramedic and ambulance services, which means the death count from this will come one person at a time.
