I like the original. I also like Bill Monroe's 1940 version as well as his New Mule Skinner Blues (1950).

And here's the version that made it to the pop charts

Mule Skinner Blues by The Fendermen

Not so much pickin' but with rollicking vocals....IMO the best version...and just about every one has covered the original.

Nice. I wonder why Ashley Campbell isn’t a star. I guess she isn’t slutty enough or she exudes the wrong politics.

Sounds like the time I saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers at a local dive here. There weren’t a hundred people in the room. The stage was 1 riser high and we danced right next to it. Also I went to see Jeff Beck and Santana a SPAC. I had GA lawn tickets as you have to be a member to sit inside. I really went to see Carlos my friend was there to see Beck. After Beck’s set I was standing at the rail waiting for Santana and I see a guy leaving, he walked right up to me and said “here, you look like you need these” and handed me 2 4th row center orchestra seat tickets, just out of the blue. Great night all in all.

So many great players here in Nashville.

Thirteen hundred and fifty two to be exact.

On a side note when Don Henley was asked where the melody to Hotel California came from he said it was a slowed and detailed version of the melody from Gillian Island's theme

Actually it came from Jethro Tull's "We Used To Know".

Saw George in Rec Hall @ PSU in the early 80’s. Life changing experience. $12 ticket. Drugs and alcohol were involved of course.

The Fendermen’s version of “Blue Yodel #8” made it to the top of the charts and then became a fixture on Oldies playlists for decades, up to the present day. Interestingly, it was their only hit.

# 2 of the 4 best guitarists ever imo (the others being Chet and Roy).

I’d pretty much agree with that. Glen Campbell is underrated given his sheer demonstrated talent. I’ve seen him seriously ripping it up, expecting to see strings from the guitar popping off by the time he’s done.
