The question then becomes, if it’s him, where’d he get the vehicle? It would also point to his family lying about the reserve.

If true and him, disorientation could also be from taking too little or many substances or psych meds. Killing someone is usually rough on the pysche.

This may otherwise be a ruse to entrap the parents as they sure as heck haven't acted to concerned with them to date.

He’ll soon be able to break into deserted summer cabins for food and shelter -just like Eric Rudolf did.

Yep. I sort of believe this guy.

Except for his cheesy selfie photo, the hiker seems credible.

Laundrie is pretty recognizable.

BL appears quite different with different hair and beard lengths. Interesting the hiker noted the guy was wearing a bandana on his head. If BL, he is purposefully changing his appearance. Consciousness of guilt.

Selfies are always cheesy. I have not a single one. :-)

One thing that makes this story credible is, “I got into a fight with my girlfriend.” Haven’t we heard this utterance from earlier witnesses before BL headed back to FL?

I can think of another very good reason not to be in that area right now other than on the trail itself. It was Popcorn Suttons neck of the woods and growing weeds and making shine is still prevalent in that neck of the woods.

I read a really short history about “the backwoods of the Appalachians” years ago. Centuries ago, it was a lot of Highland Scots that had been chased out of their homes in the 1700’s. Some went to Ireland and were hated and chased out there too so they went to the “New World” and settled in the mountains. They were wary of government and strangers. It became generational and a dangerous place for strangers to get lost. The history said that hasn’t changed.

What will he do in the winter?

Hopefully get eaten by a bear that hadn't gone into hibernation yet.

Wolves/coyotes would work too.

Could be. I wondered if it was the girl with the hitchhiking story who I didn’t originally think was credible? Or maybe the 2nd witness who talked to him that day? So many pieces to the puzzle...

“He is trying to get to Cali by using only back roads and he seemed confused. It’s credible.”

It shouldn’t be hard to do. A GPS with the setting to “avoid highways” would work. I have a phobia about limited access roads, so do the “avoid highways” thing often. He can’t be so stupid that hasn’t occurred to him.

"The man believed to be Laundrie pulled his car up alongside Davis to ask for directions to California using only back roads and refused Davis’ suggestion to take nearby Interstate 40."

Not even plausible.

Brain, who expertly navigated from campground to campground over Kansas, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming to finally find one of the most remote National Park campground locations in the freaking United States to kill his girlfriend, is asking for directions to California.

He drove on highways with Gabby and he wasn’t running and hiding.

The Scots were ones who could easily adapt to the mountains and the climate. People though not densely populated have lived in the Tennessee Valley from the mid to late 1600's on. The rivers made it easy to travel. One main river French Broad runs out of North Carolina. Three others Holston, Clinch, and Powell rivers run out of the Cumberland Gap area of Kentucky and Virginia. French Broad and Holston form the Tennessee river at Knoxville.

Afterwards in the late 1700's the main wave of settlers came after The Revolutionary War and land grants were given to Kings Mountain soldiers.
