Trump already ruled out running for Congress and his spokesman stated he has ‘zero interest’ in being Speaker.
I find it bizarre FReepers continue to float the idea anyway, seemingly on a weekly basis.
The only example I can think of a President-turned-Congressman is that John Quincy Adams had a nice long congressional career AFTER being POTUS. HOWEVER, that’s because he wanted nothing more to do with the executive branch, and was probably unelectable nationally at that point anyway (he also had no desire to be Speaker and was happy serving the 8th district of Mass.). I know they called him “Old Man Eloquent”, but I’m not sure if he was properly addressed as “Congressman Adams” or “President Adams” while serving in the House.
In any case, this ain’t the UK where the country’s ex-leader hangs around as “opposition leader” in the House. If we can have President Biden Question Time, then I’d support “HM’s Loyal Opposition Leader Donald Trump” being in Congress to question him. :-)

Were the Republicans to retake the house they can elect any one they choose to lead them.

Dems have been freaking out and threatened to make a law that says the leader of the house needs be a member.

Speaker of the House doesn’t need to be a member of Congress. And having him as Speaker after San Fran Man would be heavenly!

Considering all the damage Pelosi has caused, it seems that position is much more than ceremonial.
The better question is why it would/should NOT happen and why.
He can run AND be SOTHOR.
He could rip up Dementia Joe’s speech....
Just the thought makes me think of him tearing up a Pelosi (God forbid!) SOTU speech.
Yes, he can. But no he will not be named Speaker. Why would he start the 2024 campaign in a situation where he would once again be attacked every day? Bad idea. The better idea would be Trump supports Jim Jordan for Speaker. Same results and the media can’t attack Jordan anymore than it already does.
No he’s the President of the United States.
Because Donald Trump already said he has "zero interest". End of story. Good luck trying to convince him otherwise.
