I have Brave installed. Maybe I’ll start to use it more. Generally I use it as my “cheat the system” browser. I have all the settings to erase cookies, bookmarks, history, cache etc when closed. So whenever there is a story behind a paywall news site that lets you read 3 articles a month or what have you, and I’ve reached my limit, I paste the link into Brave. Works almost every time except for real subscription sites.

Yes. You can import bookmarks from FF to Brave. However, I did not try to import bookmarks from Edge or Chrome since I rarely used them anyway.

I’ve been using Brave for about 4 months and like anything else there is an adjustment period, but it works and runs much like FF so I am sold. I have run into a couple of pages that it will not work with, but that’s not a real problem for me.

No... And it is why I don’t mind the extra effort to use “NoScript” Bob. They shove this stuff at you with hidden scripts when you hit the page. They are not just Ad scripts, most now are tracking scripts that load up and stay there during your whole session on the net. And yes they track EVERYTHING. And I have hit pages where my NoScript has blocked almost 100 hidden 3rd party tracking scripts.

It is all about the browser tracking EVERYTHING you do, not any exploits installed by accident. Now the new trick is to have the landing page block almost everything unless I turn on the Javascript. As soon as I do all of a sudden they are dumping 75 3rd party scripts at me my NoScript has to block. The Java script was the “Vehicle” to deliver these.

Now I have been using Firefox only for the reason that I can add NoScript to it as and add on. Important note... Mint FF is their own unique FF that they compiled from the FF source code themselves and much more secure than the official FF distribution. Yet it lets you add FF addons like the NoScript and Ghostery ad blocker.

Currently I am playing with “Iridium” browser as suggested by another Freeper. It is fast and does indeed allow me to addon my NoScript and Ghostery, and they have a Linux version. Basically FF but claim better security. The reason I insist on having the NoScript is because it blocks EVERTHING, even things it has no source name for.

Then I can Allow these in the list individually one at a time until the content that I “absolutely” have to see renders but it still blocks the other 75 I really DO NOT want. While other browsers like Brave do block these, most times your only options are to allow the whole package, or not allow the whole package. All on, or all off.

NoScript lets you fine tune it to only the bare minimum you need to read the text, or view the image/video files. You do not have to allow the whole package like most do. It does come with a learning curve though. Because you do have to get familiar with what are BS API links and scripts, and what tools you do indeed need to render what you want...

NoScript is the only reason I am still using Mint FF. Testing Iridium right now as I mentioned. :)

Thanks. I just downloaded, imported bookmarks and after some trial & error imported my passwords. I’m good to go.
I had used Brave for awhile a year or so ago but never figured out the password migration so it was too cumbersome.

This is a perfect time to switch to the Brave browser. All the features of Google Chrome without the spying and with built-in ad blocking.

Nope. I really like my Scion FR-S and xB, but I don’t work for them, either. I like my oneplus phone and LG TV. Same thing.

Sometimes people like the stuff the use and give it five stars. That’s all.

I just checked mine and it was in process of downloading the latest version and I told it to discard the download but it kept downloading. I will not use the new version if it messes up my settings, etc.

I like 43 and have customized it to my liking. My company laptop keeps foisting v83 on me despite all attempts to block it.

So, I keep a copy of the v43 install pkg on my desktop, install it after uninstalling v83 and then using MozBackup to restore my profile. I have to do this about once per week. But, it's better than using v83.

Thanks. Don’t know why hackers have to are life so miserable for everyone by constantly making people defend themselves somehow. Or companies like firefox who wanna spy.
