Pelosi and Schumer are hoping and praying that nine more Republicans don’t join him. The last thing they want is this commission, with its equal Democrat/Republican membership, equal approval for subpoenas, and set end date. They want this voted down, so that they can then start January 6th hearings within the appropriate House committees. Where the Democrats have a majority, where the Democrats control who gets subpoenaed and who doesn’t, where they can drag the hearings on as long as they want. They’re going to go all Benghazi on the Republican and use every trick, every witness, every innuendo they can find to hang this on Trump and every Republican member of the House and Senate that they can, and run it clean up to the 2022 elections if they can. And McConnell and McCarthy are too blind to realize the trap they’re walking into.
