I hope so. I had coding issues just to get it to post.
On top of the Gas Crisis, this is just another Major crisis.
Old bridge won’t handle some of today’s Big Rigs. locals will use it, but Trucks, Barges are the BIG PROBLEM. ALL COMMODIETIES FOR BOTH STATES AFFECTED.
TRUCKERS NEED TO PLAN A RE-ROUTE.

Just showed the picture to my 12 year old daughter. Her words:
“That’s not a crack, daddy. That’s just broken. Completely broken.”
Yep.

Ouch, got me! I was on my iPhone using Siri to transcribe. She obviously cannot transcribe very well and sadly was not hired for her looks. I have no excuse. Sorry!

Cities are not responsible for interstate highway repairs. That falls to the state dept. of highways.

Honestly, I could repair that with no problem whatsoever and it would be stronger than the original in a few days at most if given all the resources I know the state has at their disposal.

Yes, indeed! Baling wire is the answer to the problem!!
(plastic straps are a fair substitute)

Marie lives on the south side, only half a mile from the *other, older* Mississippi bridge (I-55). So Chuck's ghost can still go see his 6yo daughter with relatively little problem.

Not very smart officials when they call that a crack.
Looks like a clean break to me and anyone with eyes.

They say a good weld is stronger than the steel itself. It means they could fix this particular break and get stuff moving again, assuming an inspection turns up no other problems. It would at least buy time while the new bridge is being built.
Also, a bridge should last more than 50 years. I used to live by San Francisco in the 60’s. All the bridges we used are still standing and doing fine.

The view showing the small bolted on plate looks curious. Doesn’t look like a lot of support between the vertical and horizontal elements. The large bolted plate with the 100+ bolts doesn’t appear to do anything. Maybe the workers got paid by the bolt hole.

Crack has been known to exist by city for years, just kept growing, neglected by BLUE MEMPHIS...Is the city responsible for maintaining the bridge on the interstate going into another state?
