Ghosts are racist.
Great, it’s the beginning of The Stand
Like Devil’s Night in Detroit.
I’ve heard similar advice given, for people to avoid the Dan Ryan Expressway through Chicago.
He just be wilin’
Reminds of an unreported story. The big NorCal fire last year was started by someone covering up a murder. But... We still gotta blame it on global warming.
“The big NorCal fire last year was started by someone covering up a murder. But... We still gotta blame it on global warming.”
That news is just now hitting that area. Of course nothing was said if the murderer was an illegal or not.
If some rancher, farmer or white civilian had started that fire accidentally, they would have been tried and convicted in the local mediot outlets.
I don’t really know anything about the hiways in Chicago 50+ years later.
However, I think it was a black comedian saying don’t be on any MLK named street after dark or something similar.
I was raised a ‘Local Theater Kid.’ Mom did costuming and Dad built sets. I helped both, but worked Stage Crew, Usher. Basic Go-fer - whatever was needed and age appropriate as I grew up.
Musicals are my all-time favorite. My fave of faves, when there are SO many to choose from?
‘Oklahoma’ and ‘1776.’ ‘Momma Look Sharp’ gets me right in the FEELS every time and they omitted that from the movie! ‘How Dare You!’ LOL!
‘If I Loved You’ from ‘Carousel’ is also a favorite tune. Nobody did live theater better than Shirley Jones. Gordon MacRae can have a LITTLE credit, too. ;)

Current musicals? I wouldn’t go if I had free tickets! It’s as bad as Hollywood with all the PC preaching and cr@p. Just tell an honest story, write some memorable tunes and there should be lots of dancing. ;)
How about you?
Beau loves watching all the old shows on Me-TV and has great fun pointing out who was on what episode when and the crossovers, etc.
What a career Ron Howard has had, on screen and as a director. I love the ‘Andy Griffith’ episodes where Opie ends up in trouble, but then shows his Heart of Gold and he’s really innocent of any perceived ‘crimes’ by Pa and Aunt Bea. ;)
I’ve really enjoyed (most of) his movies. And who can forget all the laughs on ‘Happy Days?’ Well, before Fonzie ‘jumped the shark.’ LOL!
I’m watching the episode introducing Aunt Bee. Pilot?
Yep. She shows up after Andy’s wife died. :( And, she never left! ;)

I was going to mention Barbara Cook in my previous post regarding the singer I preferred over Shirley Jones. Her voice lasted a lot longer in years.
For musicals in general, what a time in America when Rogers and Hammerstein were turning them out with great regularity. All of them with memorable music. South Pacific and the King and I to name just two.
I suppose the years from the 1930’s to the 1980’s could be called the golden age of Musicals. Music Man being my all time favorite Broadway edition. There is an eight CD set a found on the internet that has eight musicals on it.
Unfortunately the link below exceeds the built in page parameters, and I haven’t figured out how to split links and still make them work so the page parameters remain intact.
This is a link to Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald singing Indian Love call. I’m not sure that applies to singing dancing musicals as I believe that was a Hollywood production, nevertheless, it’s memorable music.
Here is another not so expensive alternative for those looking.
Well, it seems McDonald can also be spelled MacDonald.
thanks for the links! Will eagerly check them out. :)
