I’m a fan of Henry McKenna 10yr, Bottled-in-Bond. Glad I bought 6 bottles of it when I did at Wine and More, because it is next to impossible to find at a decent price point (I bought it at $32/bottle a few years back).

Yes there is a 100 proof Old Forrester that I hear is not bad. We discovered a great rye from 13th colony which is a boutique distiller out of Plains, GA. Good stuff. We also love the 13th colony Southern Vodka for martinis. And I’m a long time fan girl for Bushmills Black. At my Dad’s wake we handed out shot glasses and gathered round the casket to toast a fine Irish gentleman with it.

Try Willet Pot Still Reserve. If for no other reason than to keep the bottle.

I’ll give you a little hint. When you are in the nursing home, breathing your last, your biggest regret won’t be spending $13 more for the good stuff.
As I told my friends when they asked if $280 was too much for a week on the island “At this point, I have more money than time”

Wild Turkey 101 can’t get enough on this day.

Kidding, I wait until later in the day.

Years ago when I vacationed in Ireland I got the chance to go on a distillery tour at Old Midleton. At the end I got a tasting of all of their brands: Tullamore Dew, Powers, Bushmills, and Old Midleton. They have all become favorites of mine.

Bushmills has a smokiness that most Irish whisky's don't have. If I remember right the smokiness comes from anthracite used in its production.

I was at a buddies house.

He had a bottle of Jefferson’s Reserve. I was impressed. I might have to try a bottle.

Have you tried “Writer’s Tears” Irish whiskey? If you like Jameson, you’ll love this one. Also Jameson Cooper’s Croze is a keeper!

Well, that prose suggests it was written by folks that couldn't cut it as interior decorators or dress designers.

Bushmill’s is Protestant whiskey and is not allowed in my home, however humble it is.

The bottle is definitely a keeper but what’s inside is pretty doggone good too! Willett puts out really good product all around.

When I was in Ireland many years ago in the nineties we were supposed to go to the Bushmills distillery but for some reason we ran out of time. I never cared for Jamesons but Tullamore Dew isn’t bad.

I feel your pain.

I have done the same as you and have tried several bourbons.

I like Buffalo Trace. Have you tried Eagle Rare??? Pretty good. Found it on sale when COVID started this spring on shopboozy.com. I bought two cases and now have only one bottle left.

I claim not to be a boozer but it sure can be habit forming if one is not on guard.

So what historian here can explain to me the Pennsylvania Whisky rebellion and why is it predominantly rye?

I had some Eagle Rare a while back before it got hyped on the whisky channels. Now it's really expensive for a bourbon.

Some day I'll treat myself again.
