Don’t know if any will lead to a bigger event. Fortunately, most do not.

But in May 1978, off Santa Barbara, a 3.0 was considered to be a foreshock to a larger quake in the Santa Barbara area in August that was close to 6.0. It was brief in duration, thankfully. Did damage throughout the area, injured 100 people and knocked out power for several hours. The University at California at Santa Barbara had a lot of damage, but it was in August so few people were there.
