Just one week into the Big Ten college football season, the conference is now feeling the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, Wisconsin announced that it would be pausing all football-related activities for seven days due to an "elevated number of COVID-19 cases within the Badgers' program," the program said in a statement.
Wisconsin's game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, October 31, will not be played.

Because of the Big 10 = 14 dithering about whether to play football there were no bye weeks to enable rescheduling. So this game will never be played. Also, the Big 10 = 14 decided to double the number of days a person with COVID19 should be quarantined from 10 to 21. I wonder if Badger QB Mertz can say to hell with this and quit for the season so he does lose a year of eligibility.

The real problem is that their starting QB was hurt and the next 2 tested positive. So this is all about not getting creamed while playing the 4th. string quarterback.

Big Ten commissioner and AD’s sabotaged any chance of qualifying for the CFP. Eight games with no bye weeks. 21day quarantine with no scientific basis. This was their intent. They do not care.

that kind of cowardly nonsense suits me just fine: it helps put the ACC and SEC in an even better situation ... but even better, infuriated Badger fans will be even more likely to vote GOP and Trump ...

I think the NCAA waived the eligibility rules this year. So a redshirt freshman can play without losing a year. (I think).
Now if I'm Mertz and my school chooses to cancel the game, not the B1G, then maybe I consider going somewhere else. Because it is my understanding that WI chose to cancel the game, it wasn't mandated by the B1G.
