I stopped by a large Cabela's over the weekend, and the firearm section surprised me.
No AR-15 platform type rifles were evident. And the ammunition section was sparse/bare in the more common calibers. Saw *two* 200 round boxes of .308.
I know hunting season is here, but I thought it was unusual.
Anyone else seeing similar things elsewhere?
Over priced stuff?
There are gun shortages everywhere, demand has been through the roof. Same with ammo.
I have a Cabelas and it was stocked up fairly well about a week ago

FWIW, I saw 666 rounds of plated HP Winchester .22 LR at Wally World this weekend.
(Last two boxes of 333 rounds)
Otherwise, find out when the stores’ ammo trucks come, and camp out like everyone else does.

Every one is stock up in advance of the election.
If Trump wins, expect riots and assaults on anyone deemed a a republican.
If Biden wins expect the same plus massive gun control.
This has been going on for months. I go to a nearby academy in brownsville TX and there are no ARs or semi auto anything. Just elmer fudd bolt guns. And there is NO AMMUNITION except weird wildcat rounds no one uses. CW2 is coming and everyone knows it
back ordered Six months. Found out some are back ordered from last year. Suggest you buy anything useful for self- defense ou can get
I went to a local gun show over the weekend. There were plenty of guns laid out for sale, but the quality of firearm was far below the normal. For example, premium brands like Colt and Kimber and Sig were almost non existent. Stainless or partially stainless weapons were nowhere to be found, except revolvers. Most everything was solid black, from mid to bottom barrel vendors. Cheap shotguns from Turkey were everywhere, but not one Benelli, Saiga, VEPR, or even Remington that I saw. Ammo was available but 3x the normal cost. I bought a machete, and a Trump flag, was all.
We are still getting ammo in weekly.
Last Thurs. we got an entire pallet of 1000 round cases of 5.56mm, it lasted until 2 p.m.
Ammo is in short supply. AR’s have been flying off the shelves. This has happened before.
Buy any buckshot you see, I’ve been told there won’t be anymore until spring.
The Academy and Easter Outfitters near me both have a few AR platforms. The sales guy told me the ran out of .223 and 5.56 so people stopped buying the platforms. They have some ammo in now so I suspect the remaining AR platforms will go soon.
I want to get something smaller than a 1911 to carry.
Ideas?
Back in September at the Hamburg store I purchased a SW 380 (waited 5 hours) and there was no ammo...But down the road there was a Military surplus store that was stocked.....Also my brother in law got some for me at a small gun shop....
