Maybe “Lawnchair Larry” had a protégé and he moved up to a jetpack.

I saw some in the movie theater as a kid and also on 1950’s (?) tv.
The lyrics to The Jetsons are a lot more fun if you sing them in Astro’s voice:
“Reet Roerge Retson!...”
Maybe we need to start upping the level of ingestion testing the turbines experience from turkeys to humans?

“Only in L.A.”
GARY SEVEN?
More like a guy who ate too many spicy burritos and got launched into the sky. Check out the Flying Burrito Brothers for suspects.
Gary 7? Why would he ever need a jet-pack? What would ISIS have done?
If you lived in the vicinity of LAX you could have great fun building a balloon mock-up of a man wearing a jet pack. You could launch it to fly in the airspace and freak out a pilot or two!

Pumaman?
No, he flies like a moron.
Ark II had the jet pack as well.
It’s Race Bannon, doing a little surveillance for Dr. Quest.
With a kick-ass soundtrack, naturally.

“a balloon mock-up of a man wearing a jet pack.”
Sounds good to me.
Jan (1973?) a friend dragooned my assistance with launching some FIRE BALLOONS from Bloomingdale Il,(He lived there.) near the approach to O’hare.
That night was selected because the launch conditions were absolutely perfect, sub zero and near still air.
Cold dense air provides more lift.
Well worth the time!
They went up a couple of hundred feet(A GUESS) then drifted horizontally.
The stayed up for five??? plus minutes that we could see them.
Super thin plastic bags, two thin balsa wood sticks and birthday candles.
The bags that come on the dry cleaned clothes! I used to do that when I was a kid back in the 70s. We used yard sticks and split them length wise.
Birthday candles did the trick!!
Im thinking the jet pack ballon guyshould be more hi-tech. Helium and some science balloons! Paper mache body with fake net nozzles?
