"What won't kill you, makes you stronger"
My husband practices the “bait your hook with a worm, wipe your hands on your jeans, and pick your sandwich back up off the dock and eat it” method. I’d gladly tie him to a chair and read him my microbiology book, but he won’t cooperate.
I confess, I don’t trust doctors. As for cancer... I have the sinking feeling that once you’ve got it, you’ve got it. Treatment may beat it back for a little while (at a very high cost, both financial and physical) but it’s coming back, probably soon, and this time it will get you. JMHO.
Your immune system is like a muscle: Use It or Lose It!
I’ve worked in chemical manufacturing for so long now staying washed up is second nature.
Before entering any manufacturing space, washing hands is a biggie.
John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Milwaukee.
After spending a great evening chatting the night away, the next morning Johns grandfather prepared breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast.
However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking, Are these plates clean?
His grandfather replied, Theyre as clean as cold water can get em. Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!
For lunch the old man made hamburgers.
Again, John was concerned about the plates, as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, Are you sure these plates are clean?
Without looking up the old man said, I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now dont you fret, I dont want to hear another word about it!
Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfathers dog started to growl, and wouldnt let him pass.
John yelled and said, Grandfather, your dog wont let me get to my car.
Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted!
Coldwater, go lay down now, yah hear me!
We’re a microcosm of conservative society. Don’t be so denigrating to your fellow FReepers. For one thing, it’s not nice; and for another, everybody has a different background and education, or lack thereof. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, unless, of course, you’re just TRYING to hurt someone’s feelings and act superior.
They stopped cleaning carts here in LA.
My friend read on the internet that yeast infection medicine, the kind you get in the feminine products aisle, works on bad poison ivy, so he tried it. He reported that it cleared it up better than any prescription he was ever given.
I love going up to people in grocery store parking lots who are about to put their cart in the cart corral and telling them I’ll take their cart. The look of sheer horror on their faces is priceless.
Hahaha! One of my favorite movies, and I don’t care about ANYBODY’S politics who was in it!
haha ... I have no doubt
Ouch, ouch, and ouch!
There are some aggressive cancers that are almost pointless to try to treat, but most cancers, if caught really EARLY, are very treatable, and may never recur. I think they’re finding that genetics play a big part. Some people are at high risk for cancer, even if they do everything right, because they have a sort of cancer “gene” dominant in their makeup.
Went to Orland today - there were workers spraying the door handles of the stores every time someone touched them.
I’m very careful about hand washing. I’m a terrible housekeeper, and my kitchen’s a mess, but you can safely eat anything I prepare, because when it comes to hand washing and food prep, I’m a cleanliness nut.
Most of the “good bacteria” in your body is in your digestive system to help you digest your food. You replenish it with the foods you eat, not by breathing it in. The number 1 cause of not enough good bacteria in the body is antibiotics, not overly clean surfaces.
Companies went from never cleaning stuff to doing it properly? You think thats bad? I guarantee you the credit card machines in most businesses were dirtier than the toilets. The toilets got cleaned occasionally. Now the get routinely cleaned.
Average Americans dont wash their hands well after going to the bathroom. My guess is 5-10% dont even try. Common surfaces need to be kept clean.
Dumb vanity in my opinion.
I certainly am not trying to hurt anyones feelings.
I am however appalled at the amount and widespread level of ignorance in this microcosm. This is not a good sign.
