Sam Kinison was clean, sober and freshly married when a drunk driver killed him outside of Needles, California in a head on collision. Just started a new TV show, too.
Sam was my all time favorite comedian.

Richard Jeni was pretty good, too. Suicide took him from us.
One of his newer routines.

What three words could vhe saved John Belushi’s life?

“No Coke. Pepsi.”

Plenty of comics from the past lived to old age without the problems the more recent ones had. Probably more due to societal changes.

I HATE and DONT GET will ferrell.

But Farley in the movie Tommy Boy was hysterical..he and that little guy sidekick were good together.

Well actually he was the sidekick.

Robin Williams was very funny and Carlin, the little i’ve seen, I liked.

John Candy broke my heart.

From everything I read, he was a RARE user of coke.

A number of doctors said it was his pack a day of smoking and weight of around 350 at the end that did it.

Maybe even 375.

Those other guys, most of them, were big time into drugs..but not John.

But then I guess nicotine is a drug and IMHO in some ways a lot of the garbage we (I!) eat are drugs...can’t even pronounce what’s in them half the time.

I’m fat :)

I did it. No one else.

I keep fighting and it is hard but I KNOW I would not last one line of coke without a heart attack.

Don’t smoke. Good genetics.

Even fat I’ll see the 70s I think.

And you deserve some kind of recompense for having to read my WAY OFF TOPIC rant :)

Yep, seems like almost all of the Borscht Belt comedians lived long lives.

Hartman was shot by his coke-relapsed, thanks to Andy Dick, wife.

I don’t really care, but still have to watch two of his movies some day.

Supposedly Andy Dick has caused the death of several people.

“Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolfe”

It is a very “dark” movie and is black and white on purpose to add to the effect. Taylor and Burton are magnificent as usual. I think they may have been drunk for real during the filming. If you see it you WILL remember it! Not a shocker like “Psycho” but more a psychological drill along the lines of “The Graduate”. Interestingly, all made in the 60’s.

Don’t know about his drug use, but didn’t Candy drop a bunch of weight, then croak?

That’s what I heard, dropping too much weight too fast, can cause a heart attack.

It was based on a play by Edward Albee, which was considered one of the top dramas of the 60’s.

My favorite in your list was George Burns who was razor-sharp to the very end. Another favorite, Groucho Marx, lived to be 86. A sense of humor can help ensure a long lifespan.

Unless you combine it with drugs.
