After two decades in business, Cheers at Bostons Faneuil Hall Marketplace is closing for good at the end of the month. CEO Markus Ripperger confirmed the news to WBZ-TV Tuesday.
The Faneuil Hall bar and restaurant is a replica of the bar setting on the Cheers TV show. The Bull & Finch Pub on Beacon Street inspired the iconic series and is now known as Cheers Beacon Hill, which will remain open.
Ripperger said the coronavirus pandemic and problems with the Marketplaces landlord were factors in the decision to close.

The Bull & Finch is kind of claustrophobic.

Dropped down there now and then. Yeah, claustrophobic. Never put my finger on why I didn't care for the place.. Claustrophobic is a good description.
Spent my time at Father's Five (Father's Dive) or The 7s occasionally.

Never put my finger on why I didn't care for the place. Maybe because no one there knew your name. :-)

I deduce that you are either a Patriots fan and/or a Red Sox fan. If I am correct, then you and I are, hence forth, sworn enemies.

Gave up baseball after the pine tar incident. Soon after I eschewed all pro sports.

Been to the Bull & Finch and I wasn't impressed. I thought John Kasick's dad would be there. 😋
There was a shrink at the bar who wanted to be in radio. 😋

Of course the original Bull and Finch is on Beacon St down the street from the State House. The Faneuil Hall one had robots of Norm and Cliff, I think I read.
When the last ep of Cheers aired NBC did a special Tonight Show live from the original. Cast members were drinking there
for awhile and kinda lit up.
