Soccer star Megan Rapinoe says the world has gone through big changes this year when it comes to race and equality but the conversation needs to continue.

The question never asked, let alone answered was:
The captaincy of the US (women’s) soccer team is a ceremonial, honorary title. It has nothing to do with play on the pitch except for interaction with the referee.
If the person chosen to be captain refuses to participate in ceremonies and honor the nation she claims to represent then why is she captain in the first place?
By the same token, if the person chosen to be flag bearer at the Olympics dragged the flag along the ground wouldn’t someone else be chosen especially if officials knew about the plans in advance? I don’t want to give any woke athletes ideas but the concepts are the same.

So she’s talking about “social justice” while collecting big bucks from a company with numerous issues with labor exploitation in the third world.
The current USWNT is probably within a player or two either way of "looking like America," at least as far as black/white is concerned. Asians and hispanics are underrepresened. But looking more broadly across competitive soccer in the U.S., the players lean white. That will change over time as youth soccer grows in minority communities, but soccer over the last generation has been a white kids game. Black girls tend to play basketball or run track. Young black boys play football or basketball or run track. Of course, individual and cultural preferences should not matter because this is a question of Social Justice. So: we need racial quotas there too, if we're going to go the woke route, and those quotas would cut in the opposite direction. There's a lot more money in basketball than in soccer, so it's probably more important to fix that first. All professional basketball teams should be at least 60 percent white, or 75 percent white if we include white hispanics. I wonder if Megan will associate herself with THAT crusade.
