JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A Trump 2020 flag was attached to a telephone pole this week on a residential street in Jackson and some residents were upset about it. Jackson has been fighting right of way and utility pole usage battles with First Energy and local Jewish Orthodox residents for years, as they sought to attach eruv wires to the poles. This time, it’s an oversized Trump flag that has residents up in arms.
Township code says no objects can be placed in the streetside right of way, but the township has found that the utility company owns the poles and decides what goes on them, so for now, it’s up to the utility company or those in the community to take the flag down.
Some in the neighborhood said they are concerned the presence of the flag might attract people to come to their neighborhood and cause damage. Others worry that the flag at the entrance to the development might lead people to believe the flag represents the entire neighborhood. Others joked, saying at least it wasn’t a Joe Biden flag.
Most agreed, whether they support the president or not, the flag should be removed in light of the current volatile climate in America and surge in violence nationwide.
Several years ago, Jackson Township Mayor Michael Reina was forced to remove an American flag he attached to a telephone pole outside his Hawkin Road home. The call came after the mayor was working to remove Jewish eruvs from telephone poles in other parts of the town.
Lots of Trump flags in my small neighborhood. Saw a couple Bidens ones in the town down the road.
We used to pay the telephone company rent every month for the cable lines. At the time it was something like $3/ month per pole.
The flag owners will be sent a bill.
I have seen homofascist rainbow flags unfurled that way and you are not permitted to disapprove or voice dissent. They are hung to identify conquered territory.

Been in Waukesha, WI ten days. I’ve seen several Trump signs in the area, but no Biden signs, for what it’s worth.

Agreed. I was just going to make this point. Put any signs you want on your own property. We have this issue in my neighborhood. Someone is putting BLM signs on stop signs and street signs. He whines about it on NextDoor whenever they're pulled down. We're county, not city, and the county law is that political signs may only be placed on your own property or, with permission, on the property of others. No signs on public lands. But this guy doesn't care. Neither does the county in this liberal area in which I live. I don't want to see the neighborhood littered with Trump signs or BLM signs. Of course, if I put up a Trump sign and it was torn down (as it surely would be), the same people who are up in arms over the BLM signs being taken down would cheer.

Done here on the MS Gulf Coast, women are women and men are men (for the most part) and the Snowflakes aren't all in your face because they know the odds are they will be the ones being intimidated.
