Sad news about Ol' Remus (of The Woodpile Report)

I know we've all wondered about what happened to him and I'm sorry to be the one that breaks it to you but he's joined his wife in Glory on July 8th.

In accordance with his desire for anonymity as author of The Woodpile Report his identity as well as details about his life will not be provided.

While his family, and yes, I am family, close enough to him that I have known him every single day I have been alive – until he died of course, wishes ‘friend of wife” had not posted her comments anywhere containing details of his death, which are true – but that’s all ya get for real info, the fact is that Ol’ Remus has indeed died.
While rumors will persist without a link to an obituary or the divulging of other revealing information concerning who Remus was it is from the respect of his wishes to remain anonymous that we, his family, act in this manner.
There are very few on the internet who know who Remus was but rest assured he was greater in real life than his writings showed him to be.
This post may be freely shared of course, and I have no doubt it will be – an important take from this is the H/T thanks offered to all, not just readers here, but everywhere.

Thank you, LibWhacker, for the notification of 'Ol Remus' recent death and his family concerns for anonymity.
I had run across his articles located in 'The Woodpile Report' very early on, even prior to being made aware
of Kartographer's preparation and moderating the prepper forum here at FreeRepublic.
The report is a compilation of prepper resources and common sense information that are thought provoking,
and also includes some of what I consider 'off the wall' resources and some extreme concepts.
Remus provided this information without any judgement, but made it available to all.
His 'Wood Pile report' was one of the first prepper related sites that I had found, but somehow, I had misplaced it.
Now that you have brought it to my attention, I have the site saved,
and hope that the family will continue to archive the resources that he has brought together;
it is his literary legacy.
