Cool beans for sure! I made my escape in 2016. Now in Northern Alabama (Roll Tide!). I suggest you make your way to interstate 40E and then turn south on I65 to Birmingham, then east to Alanta and meander to your corner of Fla from there. A stop and break to the Verner Van Braun Space Center in Huntsville would be nice (if its open for covid that is...).

We moved up north to the Idaho Panhandle. But keeping our CA house for now. Maybe rent it out in the near future.
Hubby and I hope to escape from The People's Republik of Connecticut someday...
Idaho is a beautiful state... albeit, a little cold and snowy.
In 40 years on the southern Peninsula, I’ve seen Chinese and Indian store signs move northward to engulf the entire lower peninsula. It’s like living in Bangalore or Beijing now. The entire culture has been swapped out. The ABAG tells towns what their “fair share” of low-income housing is which changes the character of the once-lovely little towns. The traffic is horrendous as are the insane drivers endangering everyone. The impact of extreme wealth everywhere is so corrosive. The rudeness is just off the charts, a far cry from the civility and politeness of 40 years ago. The quality of life just sucks.
We are splitting our time between the Idaho Panhandle and the Bay Area, but my wife has zero desire or intention to ever return to the Peninsula.
“cold and snowy” — yep, the big downside. Still waiting for Summer 2020 to get started, too! And it’s almost 1/3 over.
I’m in the SF Bay Area and have had 3 friends move in the past 3 weeks. One a liberal couple, moving to be near an adult child and cheaper housing in Sacramento. One conservative couple moving back to FL because the schools aren’t going to open up in the fall it seems. And another conservative couple moving back to OH because they BOTH lost their jobs for COVID related economic reasons.
I still like CA, although I’ve switched my teen daughter out of public school. Why should we conservatives give up such beautiful territory to the leftists? I feel the same about nude beaches in Hawaii—they are the best and most beautiful beaches, so why should only the nudists get to enjoy them?
Tampa area is a great part of Florida. Look at Wesley Chapel area. I’m here visiting family now. Very nice.

Prayers. My grandmother is from San Francisco. I love the city and feel sad about the how leaders derive power from Jim Jones’ source: the demonic. No doubt about that.
USA is blessed in every inch. Main thing is to ask the Lord how to serve Him.
