Democratic Task Forces Deliver Biden A Blueprint For A Progressive Presidency
NPR ^ | 7/08/20 | Scott Detrow

Posted on 07/08/2020 4:50:28 PM PDT by Libloather

A joint effort by former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders to unify Democrats around Biden's candidacy has produced a 110-page policy wish list to recommend to the party's presumptive presidential nominee.

Throughout the Democratic primary, Biden stuck to a more moderate platform, while Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and much of the rest of the crowded field courted progressives and advocated for broader structural changes. But as the United States faces a growing pandemic and unemployment rates at the highest levels in generations, Biden has been talking more and more about a presidency that approaches Franklin Delano Roosevelt's, with bold progressive ambitions.

The policy document - the work of six joint task forces appointed by Biden and Sanders in May - would give the former vice president a road map to that goal.

"The goals of the task force were to move the Biden campaign into as progressive a direction as possible, and I think we did that," Sanders told NPR. "On issue after issue, whether it was education, the economy, health care, climate, immigration, criminal justice, I think there was significant movement on the part of the Biden campaign."

FDR’s Folly - How he ruined the US economy during the Great Depression and they want Biden to do the same thing. In Seattle they’re going to tax employers more for what they pay their employees, just like during the GD ... businesses are fleeing Seattle now that they also want to increase the sales tax.

Government by task force. Get ready to bend over for China or whoever’s buying Biden’s task force.

Did Seattle discover the need for a police force? Will the city use the additional revenue to provide useful services like arresting thieves, eliminating graffiti, suppressing insurrections, dismantling autonomous zones, and educating schoolchildren in the greatness of American history, centuries of British literature, and classical music in addition to depoliticized mathematics and natural sciences?

I have heard no indication of any of the foregoing, and I understand that notwithstanding the severe criminality and insurrections, the city already imposes high taxes sufficient to fund an ample professional police force with plentiful revenue to spare.

Here’s the link to the full document. If you weren’t convinced they were absolutely crazy, you will be now.

Good thing I’m old - you’re going to have to do something about this.

I’m a bit broken down at 49 but I have known they have been whacked since the hillbillies came to DC in 93.

I will do my part to the best of my ability if and when things go wrong.

I want to hear Biden actually say what they said he would do. No do overs. No teleprompters. He can do it from his porch if he wants. Even his basement if it would make him feel more comfortable.

They may have the money to fund the PO but they won’t. They’ll use whatever tax money they get for social services like the homeless, etc.
