The Americans (A Canadian's Opinion)
CFRB Radio via Youtube ^ | June 5, 1973 | Gordon Sinclair

(EXCERPT ONLY) This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I’d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States Dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar, or the Douglas DC-10? If so, why don’t they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon — not once, but several times — and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the American who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don’t think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I’m one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those.

This is an excerpt (85-90%?) of a June 5, 1973 radio broadcast by Canadian journalist, Gordon Sinclair.

On this July 4, when so many Maoists have come out of the woodwork to try and destroy the US, and many countries try and take advantage of an America in disarray, know that there are still many in other countries like me, who look up to the freedom that America displays to the world.

Happy 4th of July and may God heal and bind the wounds of my neighbout to the South.

Thanks to our good friends Up North.I'm familiar with this but haven't heard it for a while. The United States is a good, but certainly imperfect, country populated large by (but not entirely by) basically decent people. Having had grandparents who just barely escaped the starvation poverty of Ireland I've lived a comfortable, and reasonably free, life so far.

The problem is that there are more than a few people here, and elsewhere, who want to change that.

Let’s stop saying our nation is “good but imperfect.” You don’t compliment loved ones by pointing out their imperfections.

It’s nearly impossible to reason with unreasonable people.

I remember this speech was the inspiration for a “spoken word” hit record back in the ‘70s. It was played on “Top 40” type radio stations back then. The “song” climbed the Billboard magazine music charts.

I can’t imagine that could ever happen today.

This was a great bit.

And it’s from when things were actually worse for blacks, etc.

Too bad the announcement was just made that the great 747 (“Boeing Jumbo Jet”) has come to an end.

Unfortunately, you are correct. Our ‘Dear Leader’, Prime Mistake Trudeau is, like his (mac) daddy before him, a Maoist, or is at the least, VERY soft on communism, especially the Chinese Communist Party. Why is it that so often, it is the wealthy, pampered class, that fall for the lies of communism?

Amongst ‘antifa’, the core seems very Maoist and they seem to easily attract so many ‘useful idiots’. Just look at all the ‘sk8er bois’ in CHAZ/CHOP/CHUMP and all the other protests/riots.

Overall, our society (the West) has turned away from God. Humanity needs a ‘greater power’ to fill the ‘God gap’ when they turn from Him. Too many have fallen for the lies of communism/Maoism. We turn our face from Him, He turns from us. We, the West, need to return to Him otherwise, we are lost and things will only get worse. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Happy Independence Day!

The time I helped my friend install a kitchen in a house in Germany is when I "got it"! The water supply lines are measured in inside diameter and drains measured in O.D. even thought they transcribe the sizes (1 1/4-1 1/2 inch) into metric. That's Merican! When we rebuilt Germany, we used American standard although they changed it to metric. Any plumbers here will get it also!

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Interesting. You refer to the 4th of July as ‘Independence Day’. Many ignorant people know it only as ‘the 4th of July’ and some do not know why it is celebrated.
Here in Canada, our ‘national holiday’ is called ‘Canada Day’. It has been known as such since October 27, 1982.

Canada was created on July 1, 1867. From its creation in 1867 until October 27, 1982, the day was known as ‘Dominion Day’. Who’s government changed the name? It was under our current Prime Mistake’s father, Pierre Trudeau (aka Rocky Waterhole) that ‘Dominion Day’ met its demise.

At Canada’s founding, the Fathers of Confederation were unsure what to call the country. Was it a ‘Kingdom’? Was it a ‘Confederation’? What to call it? As the Fathers of Confederation were all Christian, many devout in their beliefs, they chose a word from the Bible, Psalm 72:8. That word is ‘Dominion’, as in the ‘Dominion of Canada’. In fact, Canada’s motto is (in latin) ‘A Mari usque ad Mare’, (from sea to sea), also from Psalm 72:8.

Rocky Waterhole, like his (apparent) spawn, Justin(e) True-dope, was a communist/Maoist. Calling the country a ‘Dominion’, after a Biblical phrase, was an insult to him. Instead, he came up with ‘Canada Day’. He also got rid of a large number of references to ‘tradition’. For example, until 1968, our navy was the ‘Royal Canadian Navy’, our airforce was the ‘Royal Canadian Air Force’. All government departments soon included the ‘Canada’. For example, ‘Canada Post’ (originally ‘Royal Mail Canada’) or ‘Revenue Canada’ (’Department of National Revenue’).

Kanaduh is lost. Too much immigration for too many years, a MSM that is socialist, and a socialist education system, has led to a majority of socialist in Canada. Conservativism in Canada will never again be able to win an election. America is heading that way.

It will be a difficult battle but Patriots in the US have to defend their country and Constitution ‘against all enemies, foreign and domestic’. Right now, America is under heavy attack internally by Maoists bent on tearing down America. They are being aided and abetted by the Dhimmicrat Party who will do ANYTHINGA to bring down Trump.

May God bless America.
