Cuomo's office: Not so fast to de Blasio's plans for NYC September schools reopening

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday the city is preparing for an in-person reopening of its schools in September, with all the precautions needed to keep the coronavirus at bay, though Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's office said the mayor does not have the power to make that decision.

The head of the city teachers union also cast doubt that a return to in-person classes is a done deal.

"You’re going to see constant use of face coverings. They'll be provided for free for anyone who needs them - kids, adults alike," de Blasio said. "Everyone will be expected to wear face coverings. You'll see social distancing, that 6-foot rule will be in effect."

But a spokesperson for Cuomo said plans for schools still depend on what the governor decides.

"The state law governing schools and business closings or openings has been in effect since the pandemic first started and all such decisions are made by state government and not local government," Cuomo spokeswoman Dani Lever said in a statement.

"Of course the state consults with local stakeholders, and when it comes to opening schools in New York City, we will consult with parents, teachers, health officials and local elected officials - but the Governor has said any determination is premature at this point and we will need to see how the virus develops."

Maybe they could just line up all the kids and kill them. No doubt both the governor and the mayor would be good with that.

Its fun to watch these two left wing lowlifes fight with each other. Sorry but New Yorkers elected them and get no sympathy for the consequences.

staffing is becoming an issue in texas...and rooms

https://texags.com/forums/84/topics/3122161

Moxley2:45p, 7/1/20AG What a difference a few months makes. In late March, many of us were being forced to use PTO for one shift a week due to low census. Now I'm getting begged to come to work every night with huge shift bonuses. Our census is running very high, very unusually high for the month of July. Our Covid volume hasn't spiked in terms of inpatient hospital stays, but we have many nurses and ancillary staff popping up as positive and who are on quarantine. Nurse staffing is becoming a huge problem. This is the side effect of the virus I've been worried about more than the actual virus itself. We were at the point last night where we didn't have enough staff for the acuity of patients we were trying to take care of. I had a patient start bleeding from an arterial surgery site and was holding pressure while at the same time the bed alarm of a confused patient went off and no one was able to get into their room before she fell. All of us were taking patient loads beyond our usual staff grid.

------------------

Albert Canales @McHiPride For those of you that think this is a hoax, I was told my dad has to wait in the ambulance until their is room in the second hospital he has tried to enter. Was turned down by McAllen Medical due to room! So our first responders, can’t respond to other emergencies! Sad! Prayers!

dont have covid before you go into the hospital??? you might get it while there

“Exposure to non-isolated patient and/or failure to properly don PPE. We aren’t testing all patients. We’ve had many strokes and altered mental status patients turn up positive after a few days of being admitted to regular floor. Not using N95 on all patients although we probably should be. Still in mindset that Covid is cough, temp, groundglass opacities. I had to convince a doc to test a confused old lady the other night who had no other symptoms and she turned out to be positive. Our stroke unit has a lot of staff down. Makes sense when you think about endovascular complications. I’m begging them to make it a policy to test all admits but so far it’s a no go. It is putting our staff at risk.”

I would think they would try to extract a federal payout first.

I can’t imagine how it feels being a sane New Yorker and watching the ridiculous actions of these two.

Somehow, this will get pinned back on Trump. Something along the lines of saying they needed to open the schools back up in order to receive federal funding that Trump is holding hostage. Or some such nonsense.

City schools and city school teachers are a money pit. They turn out generation after generation of leftist literates. Shut them down permanently.

As usual, I have to think of everything. Look, this is New York. So de Blasio and Cuomo should settle their differences they way New Yorkers used to, back in the old days. de Blasio should challenge Cuomo to a duel.

I understand that we’re dealing with a couple of weenies here. So pistols and swords are out. Maybe they could use those big pool noodles.

Probably the same way a sane Minnesotan like me does. I live only a few miles from the western front of Minneapolistan.
It’s quite fine here.

Going there should require a passport or at least an entry fee to see all the attractions just like they do at the zoo.

These two make a great comedy act.

“I am the boss.”

“No, I am the boss.”

“You are not.”

“I am too.”

I saw a “Fire Fredo’s Bro” bumper sticker in Upstate NY recently.

I’d love to know where the driver got it.

I’m 75 yo, live in NC and got fever, aches and bad headache two nights ago. Went to ER for test. They were rude! “Stay back, stay back STAY BACK. You are NOT wearing your mask right!! Cover your nose, stay back do not come closer. Sit in that chair and keep your nose and mouth covered!!” I’ve never seen people so hysterical in my life. It must be terrible to work in the medical profession during this virus.
