Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has asked President Trump for a federal disaster declaration in his state due to “extensive fire damage” and other destruction in the unrest that followed George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody on Memorial Day.

“We need to come together to ensure Minnesotans who were victims of this destruction have access to critical infrastructure they need so they can go to the grocery store, pick up their medication, and live their lives,” Walz said in a statement Thursday. “Together, we will rebuild.”

He also appealed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for financial assistance to help cover the cost of debris removal, emergency measures and damage to public buildings and equipment.

“We’re asking our federal partners to step up and help our communities recover,” he said.

Walz’s office estimates the cost of the damage to more than 1,500 businesses in Minneapolis and St. Paul at over $500 million. …

Why doesn’t he just raise taxes to cover the cost of his support for the BLM and antifa cause?

Aw, but it’s “together” you see. Right when the ugly truth about his failure stares him in the face, he tries the sweet-talking to those he would otherwise despise . . .

Liberals have all the maturity of 7 year olds. They spend every waking moment reviling and insulting Tum and then expect him to help them.

Eff ‘em. Let ‘em burn.

Note the use of language - he’s treating the riots, the looting and the killing as if it were a natural disaster.

IOW, it’s nobody’s fault, especially not mine. Now where’s the free money?

Indeed. Where’s the free money, so we can rebuild together and I don’t take the blame for anything?

Most of the damage could have been prevented if Minnesota government officials had made better decisions. Their is no indication that they learned anything, other than their attempt to make Trump look bad backfired. Let them pay for their own mistakes. Maybe the voters in Minnesota will wise up.

No, no, no. Don’t give them a dime. They could have stopped it when it was going on, and didn’t.

Don’t reward this reckless pandering.

I would tell him only if he personally apologizes to the people of MN & steps down from office would I even consider helping to pay for any destruction caused by his inactivity.

He personally must suffer the consequences of his failures by stepping down from office & declaring he will never seek elected office or appointed government service again.

"...due to “extensive fire damage”..."

Good grief, SAY IT, say the word dammit - rioting!

This was NOT a natural disaster. This was entirely preventable. But this jackass gov is saying it as if it wasn't and the state collectively is a victim. B. S.

It's like blowing up a dam and then asking for flood relief.

You did this, you and the mayor. Fix it yourselves.

At least Jesse the Body is happy - now the 2nd dumbest gov MN ever had.
